Today marks the anniversary of the first commercial flight on the Concorde. We may not be travelling too far from home these days, so why not have some indoor fun perfecting these paper airplanes! https://www.foldnfly.com/#/1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2
Activity of the day: Egyptian Rat's Crew Egyptian Rat's Crew is a game of speed and dexterity that can be played with a 52 card deck, including jokers. To play this game, a dealer deals out all of the cards in a deck evenly between the two players. The players organize their dealt cards into a single deck without looking at them. The non-dealer starts game play by turning up the card on the top of their pile and placing it in the middle of the table between the two players. ...If that card is a number card, the opponent puts down a card from their deck too. The game continues in this way until a face card (Jack, Queen, King) or Ace is played. When a face card or Ace is played, the next player must also play a face card or Ace for the game to continue. If the next player does not play one of these cards, the player who laid down the face card/Ace wins the entire pile of played cards and adds them to their stack. The face card/Ace rule can only be overridden through slapping. Players can attempt to be the first one to slap the pile of cards when any of the following situations occur. (There are a lot of situations, so you can pick and choose which ones you want to follow!) When doubles, or two cards of the same value, are played (e.g. a five is played, then another five is played on top of it) When a sandwich occurs, which is when two cards of the same value are played consecutively, but are separated by a card of a different value (e.g. a five, then a two, then a five is played) When two cards played consecutively add up to ten (e.g. two fives, a four and a six, etc.) Anytime a joker is played When four cards in consistent ascending or descending order are played (e.g. a four, five, six, and seven; a ten, nine, eight, and seven) When marriage occurs, which is when a Queen is placed on top of or below a King When a player slaps the pile without the occurrence of one of these scenarios, that player must discard a card to the bottom of the pile. The player who ends up with all of the cards wins the game.

Let's Play: Let it Ride In this casino banking game three cards are dealt to each player and two face down to the dealer. The player is paid according to how good a poker hand is made by the player's three cards plus the dealer's two cards. To play this game you must place three equal stakes before the deal. After the cards are dealt you may look at your three cards and withdraw one of your stakes if you wish. The players must not see each other's cards. One of the dealer's c...ards is then faced and you have another opportunity to withdraw one of your stakes. So you will have one, two or three of your stakes still in front of you when the dealer's second card is exposed. After exposing the second card, the dealer collects the remaining stakes of any players whose three cards together with the dealer's two cards to not form a pair of tens or better. The other players are paid according to their remaining stakes at the following fixed odds: Pair (10s or better) .... evens Two pairs .... 2 to 1 Three of a kind .... 3 to 1 Straight .... 5 to 1 Flush .... 8 to 1 Full house .... 11 to 1 Four of a kind .... 50 to 1 Straight flush .... 200 to 1 Royal flush .... 1000 to 1 Clearly the only skill is in deciding when to withdraw a bet.
Let's Play: Aces Dice Required: at least 3 players How to play:... The first player rolls all 5 dice at once. Any 1s are placed in the center and removed from game play. Any 2s rolled are passed to the player on her left; and 5s are passed to the player on her right. She continues to roll any remaining dice until she has either given away all her dice or fails to roll a 1, 2 or 5. Once she has failed to roll a 1, 2 or 5 she passes the remaining dice to the player on her left, who has his turn and rolls whatever number of dice he has. Play continues in this manner until there is only one die left in play and the player left with it rolls a 1 and thus wins the game.
Let's play: Aces in the Pot Dice What you need: 2 dice 2 tokens per player (use coins, beads, buttons, whatever you have on hand)... A pot. This can be a literal pot, like a bowl or other dish, or you can use a virtual potmeaning the space in the middle of the table. 3 or more enthusiastic players. This game is great with a crowd. Each player starts out with two tokens. Decide who goes first. Players take turns in a clockwise fashion. A player rolls the dice and loses tokens according to the following rules: 1. If one of the dice shows a 1, he puts one of his tokens in the pot. 2. If he rolls double 1s, he puts two tokens (or one, if that is all he has) in the pot. 3. If he rolls one 6 (the number 6, not a combination like 1-5, 3-3 or 4-2) he must pass one token to the player on his left. 4. If he rolls a double 6, he passes two tokens (or one, if that is all he has) to the player on his left. 5. If he rolls neither a 1 nor a 6, he takes no action and passes the dice. If a player has no tokens, he is not out of the game and can still receive tokens! He is unable to roll the dice, and passes his turn until such time as he has gained one or more tokens. Play continues until all tokens are in the pot except for one. The player with the last remaining token rolls the dice three times in a row. If he does not roll a 6 he wins. If he rolls a 6, he passes the dice to the next player who rolls the dice three times, and so forth. The first player to roll the dice three times without rolling a 6 wins.

Let's Play: 3 or more dice Objective: To have the highest score at the end of ten rounds. Instructions: ... Players take turns rolling all 5 dice. The goal is to roll at least 3 of a kind. On a player’s turn one of the following will happen: If the roll contains no matches, the score is zero and the player’s turn is over. If the roll contains 3 or more of a kind, record a score of three and pass the dice to the next player. If the roll contains 2 of a kind, the player may re-roll the remaining three dice. If, after the second roll, there is not at least 3 of a kind, the score is zero. If the roll has 3, 4 or 5 of a kind, record either a score of three for 3 of a kind, six for 4 of a kind or twelve points for 5 of a kind. Whoever has the highest score at the end of ten rounds, wins.
