NOTE BEFORE COMMENTING: While I embrace intelligent discourse and realize that this virus is not going away no matter what we do, the point of this post is to do our part to slow the spread in hopes of easing the burden on our healthcare workers and hospitals so that they can take care of everybody when they need care. - We have options to support local businesses without leaving our homes. We have options to get our groceries and other necessities without leavi...ng our home. I am very lucky and grateful to have safe access to my necessities that don’t require me to go anywhere beyond work and home and I don’t have any underlying conditions that put me at high risk. And I get that this is a struggle in bigger ways for some more than others. Ugh this isn’t meant to be a lecture from a high horse. It’s a plea to consider people you may never meet in your community that are relying on us to not risk their safety, health (short term and long term), family, loved ones, livelihood and mental health when you decide to have a couple friends over or go to that restaurant to eat dinner or go to the bar to celebrate a loved one’s birthday or visit your family outside of the city who you miss so much. Right now those actions are not singular. They have a ripple effect and ultimately could lead to not enough health care workers or hospitals to treat anyone needing help. Consider that accidents still happen, heart attacks still happen, cancer still happens and those people need support by health care workers too. So please let’s stick with the MOST BASIC AND DOABLE ACTIONS of stay home, wash your hands, wear a mask and keep your distance.
