SAY NO TO SUPER GLUE! When a denture cracks or breaks, it always seems to do so at the most inconvenient of times - just as you're walking out the door, in the middle of your work day, before a big event where you will of course be smiling. When we need things done quickly, we often think to ourselves "I can fix this no problem, nothing a little super glue can't fix." WRONG!... Super glue does NOT fix dentures, rather it ruins the integrity of the materials of the denture forever. Although we see it as a quick fix, something that will not last forever, using super glue makes it harder to permanently fix the denture. Dentures are commonly made from acrylic. Rather than binding the two broken pieces together, like the way we intended, super glue melts the acrylic and creates a bond that way. In order for the Denturist to properly repair the denture, he or she must first remove the super glue from the acrylic and try to make the repair from this now deformed acrylic denture. Did we not mention before that the scientific name for super glue is "cyanoacrylate adhesive". Sounds a little like cyanide to us! We recommend that you do not use super glue on anything that you eat or drink from, that includes things you put in your mouth - like DENTURES!
