If you caught my post yesterday about the steps I take to organize a space, here is also a quick video of me and my daughter sorting through all of our winter gear to get a glimpse of us getting it done #PjsAllDay #MyLittleHelper #WishIActuallyWasThatFast

Do you have some organizing you want to do while off but don't know where to start or overwhelmed? I thought I would share some steps I use. After a winter of skiing, making snowmen and losing everyother mitt at school, our winter gear needed an overhaul! Step 1: TAKE EVERYTHING OUT! ... If it's a closet or a drawer take it all out to sort. I always make a huge mess but trust me its worth it in the end! STEP 2: SORT INTO CATEGORIES Sort your piles into Like items. In this case, I have a basket for each person which had got jumbled up. I sorted everyone's stuff into their piles. STEP 3: SORT AGAIN This is the important one! Once you have sorting into categories, look at each item. Touch and think about each thing, do you use it, does it still work, are you keeping it just because?? Ask yourself about each item and then sort into the following categories: 1. Keep 2. Donate 3. Trash 4. Move I went through each person's pile, made sure we had pairs, things still fit and got rid of extra stuff we just didn't need. STEP 4: PUT THE KEEP PILE AWAY Hopefully after sorting your keep pile is smaller now! I always try and put things away so you can still see the items. In this case that wasn't realistic but I put it away neatly and put needed items on top STEP 5: PUT AWAY THE MOVE CATEGORY Things don't always get put back in the right home. Once you have sorted all the items, take the things that didn't belong and put them away at the end. I take a basket and walk around putting things away where they belong.Saving time and energy STEP 6: BAG UP DONATIONS/TRASH I always use clear bags when I'm working so it's easy to not get the trash/donations mixed up. The biggest key to success though is then taking the donation items our of your house! Hope this is helpful. Let me see some of the things you have organized while at home!

Home organizing Edition #4 cutting pomegranates Honestly I know this has absolutely zero to do with organizing but I thought it was a good trick! Maybe everyone already knows this or doesn't really care but I've got some time on hands to share I was doing it wrong before and it now saves me alot of time, since I actually cut alot of pomegranates (it's one of my son's favorite foods and he will eat multiple in a day if we have them)... Step 1: Cut the top like of the pomegranates off (like you would the top of the pumpkin without cutting as deep) Step 2: Take off the top. Here is the Big Secret. Look for the lines! Like an orange it has sections! Step 3: Slice down the sides of the sections Step 4: Voila! You can now pull it open! Easy peasy and without a huge mess and so much easier to eat!
