So many beautiful sunrises and sunsets lately made us think of a question we often get asked, "What will a basic solar system cost for my home or business?" The answer is unfortunately not that simple. Solar systems are built based on individual power usage. A true quote cannot be given without sufficient discussion including the requirements of the system, a site evaluation, and the desires of the consumer. Last week marked the date that Matt and I got together back in 1994. We met in high school; math class to be exact. As you all may know, we have been spending this month participating in the Community Futures East Parkland 2020 #MarletingChallenge and trust me, it has been a challenge!! Making us reach out of our comfort zone, the challenge has had us dive deep while offering the opportunity to learn as we go through this process. This has been the perfect solution as we have been struggling to find the time to learn about social media marketing and how to truly promote our business. Start...ing a new business is always a challenge but marketing has been one of our most difficult struggles over the years. It is difficult to know the difference between bragging or overselling a product and just simply being the right mix of sharing information about what we do and the products we sell. This challenge has taught us that it is okay to let a little bit of us show through. It has taught us that even though we sell a product or service, our business and the people behind it are our best promotions. It has taught us to see you, our customers, in a way that makes us want to reach out to you without always selling something, and maybe even have a laugh or two once in a while. It has taught us that it is okay to be just that, us. But it has offered us so much more. It has taught us to look deep and understand ourselves. To really dig deep and see why we started the business and who we truly work for. It has made us realize that we love what we do and we look forward to doing so much more. And it has taught us that our customers are interested in us just as much as they are our business. God save the Queen! For many in Canada, Victoria day is the kick off to summer. Its the weekend we plant our gardens or begin our outdoor projects. Its also known as the first official weekend of camping or the last weekend we expect snow. (shhh, dont say that too loud!). But did you know the real reason we celebrate Victoria Day? The British Queen Victoria was born on May 24, 1819. She was the reigning monarch for 63 years, seven months and two days and started her reign ...at the ripe age of 18. In order to celebrate her accomplishments, Victoria Day was declared a Canadian holiday by the government in 1845 and at that time it was celebrated with picnics, parades, sporting tournaments, fireworks and cannon salutes. When Queen Victoria died in 1901, it was decided that the day would be celebrated on the second last Monday in May meaning the celebration would land the day of or just prior to Queens actual birthday. It is now celebrated as the official birthday of the current Queen of Canada. For us, the Victoria Day weekend is one to catch up with friends and family, to relax and enjoy the weather, and often to go horseback riding or work around the farm. Its a time to look around at the blessings we have and stop for a few minutes to smell the roses.
