BREAKING NEWS: The Sleeping Giant Loppet will not be held in 2021. Ontario regulations currently prohibit events of any size in provincial parks and this situation is not expected to change prior to the Loppet date. Naturally the organizing committee members are, and we know all skiers will be, disappointed by this cancellation. However, we accept that missing the Loppet for one year is a small sacrifice in an effort to limit the spread of the virus.... There is some good news...it is our understanding that ski trail grooming will continue in Sleeping Giant Provincial Park this winter and rental cabins will be available. We encourage all skiers who live in the Thunder Bay area to take advantage of the fantastic skiing in the Park. As circumstances may change, please consult the Ontario Parks Ski Report before finalizing your plans to ski at Sleeping Giant. And don’t forget, the park is also a great place to snowshoe.
