They are way below the quality Canadian manufacturers have to follow under CSA standards. According to Canadian standards, asphalt shingles have to be made a certain way to survive our climate changes and each bundle should weigh around 79 pounds. These imported shingles are around 50 pounds . Didn't we... all see failures in domestically produced shingles in recent years with class action suits. Now we have to watch for cheap chinese shingles. These imported shingles are packaged to look like reputable brands and some even show a fake CSA standard trademark. These shingles are 3.85 per bundle compared to the normal price 20.00 to 23.00 per bundle normally paid by contractors. The only way legitimate companies can fight against these pirates is through publicity. Homeowners are being duped if they choose an extremely low price, especially when it is thousands lower.
