Join us for the Lightning Talks at Reimagining Buildings for a Carbon Neutral Future virtual forum, hosted by California Energy Commission #CalEnergy's #EPICForum to learn how California is reimagining buildings for a carbon-neutral future! As the work to achieve carbon neutrality in the electricity sector by 2045 continues, California is presented with a unique opportunity to reimagine new and existing building development. Using advanced technologies, new practices in archi...tecture and construction, enhanced load flexibility, and incorporating innovative policy and financing models, California’s innovators are developing the blueprint to create super-efficient, all-electric buildings powered primarily by onsite renewable energy and capable of supporting the larger electric grid. #renewableenergy #carbonneutral #sustainability #solarpowered #bipv #climatechange #smartcities #greennewdeal

The world has only six months in which to change the course of the climate crisis and prevent a post-lockdown rebound in greenhouse gas emissions that would overwhelm efforts to stave off climate catastrophe, one of the world’s foremost energy experts has warned. - This year is the last time we have, if we are not to see a carbon rebound, said Fatih Birol, executive director of the International Energy Agency (IEA). - Governments are planning to spend $9tn (7.2tn) globally... in the next few months on rescuing their economies from the coronavirus crisis, the IEA has calculated. The stimulus packages created this year will determine the shape of the global economy for the next three years, according to Birol, and within that time emissions must start to fall sharply and permanently, or climate targets will be out of reach. - The next three years will determine the course of the next 30 years and beyond, Birol told the Guardian. If we do not [take action] we will surely see a rebound in emissions. If emissions rebound, it is very difficult to see how they will be brought down in future. This is why we are urging governments to have sustainable recovery packages. - Source: https://hubs.ly/H0rL92N0 - #solarenergy #climatechange #architecture #engineering #sustainability Bloomberg CityLab Bloomberg Bloomberg NEF American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE)Reuters See more

The Planning Report interviewed Alisa Kreynes, co-founder and Chief Development Officer of SolarSkyrise, on the promise of building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) technologies for transforming any eligible building surface into a power generating asset. - TPR also excerpts from a March 20 AIA California Climate Action Partner Webinar, where Kreynes elaborates on how her firm’s analytics technology and platform enables developers and designers to maximize the value of vertical... real estate. Why: because buildings contribute to 40 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions; and with deadlines for net-zero energy targets and emissions benchmarks on the horizon, rooftop solar is insufficient to offset the carbon footprint of energy-intensive vertical buildings. - Read the Full Story: https://hubs.ly/H0rHpQf0 - #solarenergy #climatechange #architecture #engineering #sustainability Bloomberg Bloomberg CityLab See more

We need to go to 100% clean electricity as fast as we can, decarbonize our cities and electrify all their vital systems. Our buildings have to generate more electricity than they use in the first place. All that is still possible, but we have start thinking outside the box. - Some good news: The U.S. Energy Information Administration EIA on Tuesday projected the U.S. is on track to produce more electricity this year from renewables than coal for the first time in history! https://hubs.ly/H0rqB5K0 - #eia #netzerobuildings #usgbc #bipv #urbanrenewables #climatechange VerdeXchange GreenBiz.com The Verge U.S. Department of Energy Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) U.S. Green Building Council Los Angeles Chapter

We're Launching SolarScore in Beta! - In mid-May we reached a key technical and commercialization milestone in the development of our SolarScore project screening and analysis technology, beta launch. SolarScore analyzes the vertical and horizontal surfaces of existing and conceptual buildings, and calculates the technical, financial, and GHG reduction potential of using building integrated solar technologies. - We are now providing beta users with a full architectural sol...ar solution from initial project analysis using SolarScore, through detailed engineering, project management, and connection to project finance. - Want to see the revenues, clean energy, and emission reductions your projects are missing out on? - See SolarScore in Action, we recently partnered with AIA California Climate Action to demonstrate each step of our analysis process. - Link to Watch the Webinar replay in our bio. - Join the SolarScore Beta, we have limited space in the beta group so contact us now. - [email protected] See more
