For our Workshop Wednesdays series during Monsoon Festival, we're hosting free community-based development workshops online via Zoom. This Wednesday, we're offering Theatre for Young Audiences: Creative Writing Part 3 of 3 with Gavan Cheema from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM PST and Digital Marketing with Amneet Athwal from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM PST. Immerse yourself in the artistic process and build your confidence with industry professionals: www.monsoonartsfest.ca/workshops "For me, th...e Monsoon Festival workshops have always felt like coming home. Home is a complex term and place, so I don't use the word lightly. In the Monsoon workshops, I've felt safe to grow and make mistakes, and have also felt seen, held and valued as a Punjabi woman and multi-disciplinary artist. Although I've participated in and facilitated arts-based workshops in various cities across Turtle Island and beyond, I've never had an opportunity to collaborate and connect with an intergenerational community of South Asian artists and community members. These spaces are rare and beyond special. They've helped me approach the nuances and cultural aspects of my work with increased confidence, led me to build friendships with elders and artists I respect and admire, and allowed me to reposition myself in relation to my craft in new and necessary ways." -Preeti Kaur Dhaliwal, writer/lawyer/critical race feminist/college prof/facilitator Monsoon Festival is more than just a festival celebrating South Asian Arts. The immersion into the culture and community can be a life-changing experience. Thank you for sharing your experience, Preeti!
