Well, it's been at a standstill and long overdue, but the 2020 SIBL season is officially cancelled. There will be no Fall Ball at the 18+ age range either. I know at this point it was expected as we could not secure field permits, insurance and permission to play in time to hold a proper and worthwhile season. We are looking forward to baseball returning in 2021, however with the way the world looks at the moment, we're not sure what baseball will look like in May 2021 and wh...at adjustments will be needed by then. We will cross that bridge after the winter. At the moment, we hope that our city's youth can enjoy Fall Ball as best they can with all of our added precautions. If you have any questions, please fire them our way. Stay safe, play safe. South Island Baseball League.

To our many fathers in our league and in our stands!
Hello SIBL, As the province begins to open back up and recreation seems to be allowed again, there are many wondering when baseball will be back. Here is the latest news that I have. The province has announced that they are letting sports like baseball and soccer to be allowed again. This was exciting news to hear. This excitement was quickly halted as the provincial guidelines dictate that there will be a max of 10 people for baseball at one time. This pretty much kills any ...ability to have games. Due to these restrictions, Saanich, where the Layritz and Lambrick parks are situated, have declared that they will not be issuing any permit for games to be played on their fields until September. Given the extremely strict rules for baseball compared to anything else that has opened up, it does not look like there will be any Baseball BC run baseball seasons this year, this includes youth house leagues as well as PBL. I have been advised that the ball fields are public fields and Saanich has opened up their fields/parks for the public to use again. There is nothing stopping groups of people from going to the ball field and using the fields, however, there will be no permits issued and no insurance to cover anything. Thanks, Alex R. SIBL President

What a crazy night for baseball last night. Cant think of a better way to honour the guy. Well done Angels.
If you needed to mow some lawn that badly, you could have just asked.
The Victoria Mavericks, our big brother league, made the news. Glad to say we both have been making strides the last few years. Great work!
