IMPORTANT NEWS!!!! Hello my friendly and kind followers! Hope you are all keeping well during this pandemic and somewhat hectic return to school! I have some news...I am moving to a new city, back to my hometown of Sarnia, Ontario. Therefore my SpeechyBird business in the York Region is officially closed . I may consider doing long distance/virtual therapy in the future and therefore could see your kiddos online, but this would not be set up for some time. I will keep you all updated with my plans. In the meantime, I hope you all have a safe and healthy school year! Thanks for all your business and support these past four years!
This is a global phenomenon! I LOVE how my profession has responded to this pandemic and did not let it take our services away from children and their families. I was watching a webinar about teletherapy for SLPs that had over 40,000 SLPs participating (and that was only who was watching live, does not include those of us watching the recorded version). This is an amazing response! I am so very grateful to all the caring and generous SLPs out there who had experience with teletherapy and did not hesitate to offer their support, their resources, their tips and ideas, etc, etc... I am proud to be a speech pathologist making the switch to teletherapy during the 2020 Pandemic and proud that I am a part of such a brave community that does not let a challenge get us down!

Hello SpeechyBird families! I hope you are all healthy. My family and I are doing well, but I miss you! I am looking forward to seeing you again soon through teletherapy. Below is a video where I demonstrate for you what a teletherapy session with your child could look like. I hope you like it. Please contact me if you have any questions or you would like to book a session :) Stay safe everyone! https://youtu.be/RPZ_6XKyWUw

Hello SpeechyBird friends and families. I have some news...I am moving out of my office . On the bright side I am in search of another space that is more convenient for me and my clients in the Richmond Hill and Markham area. If you have or know of a space that I could rent on a part-time basis (4-8 afternoons or evenings a month) that is in the general area bordered by (or not far outside) Bathurst St, Sixteenth Ave, Kennedy Rd and Elgin Mills Rd please contact me. I am a flexible, creative, outside-of-the-box thinker so any potential ideas you have would be welcomed.
Wishing all my SpeechyBird families and friends a very Happy New Year! Hoping 2020 brings you lots of joy, success, fun, and love.
And that is one of the many reasons I enjoy my profession
And everyone would be eating Thmahties, Thnickahs, and Weethes Piethes!
Wishing everyone a safe and happy Halloween . Enjoy this time with your kids - you really only have about 10 Halloweens with them until they give it up or would rather go out with friends - it goes so fast! Our family of teenagers continues to enjoy pumpkin carving together. Here are this years works of art...
It cant be true! Twenty years since I graduated as a speech-language pathologist? Class of 99 UWO Masters in Communication Sciences and Disorders, yep wow! Best class ever!
It is that time again...time to prepare our little ones for back-to-school. The biggest changes are often changes in home routines for morning routine, after-school routine and bedtime routine. Why not start the transition now with these free downloads of visual schedules for home routines?!?! https://www.understood.org//download-sample-picture-schedu
Finally my voicemail is back online and functioning correctly! Feel free to call to book a free consultation
ALL children with special needs deserve funding for services!
Finally a place of my own, where all my toys and games can be displayed and played with instead of being hidden away in storage! I will be getting some nicer artwork for the walls at some point, but my Valentines decorations were a hit yesterday! LOL!
The SpeechyBird office is ready and open for seeing clients. Please contact me for an appointment.
Early intervention is key! Dont "wait and see"!

SpeechyBird office move continued...its getting closer to being finished. Not long now
Very cute slides on very practical ideas on better ways to communicate with little girls that takes the emphasis away from their looks for a change. I am a mom of three girls and Ive witnessed years of "You look so pretty today" or "What a pretty dress" when they were greeted by others. Now they are teens and they still get "You look great" or "Have you lost weight? Good for you!". I would love to put an end to these comments for good. Next time you greet a girl challenge yourself to not mention their looks in your comments. Their looks are not the most important part of them.
I am not usually one to jump on a soapbox; however, this is a very important issue because MYTHS are still being believed as TRUTH. These are the FACTS! Vaccines DO NOT cause autism. Vaccines DO SAVE LIVES! Please read, the evidence is insurmountable. What Dr Wakefield did makes my blood boil...
The move has begun! I my new office. Cant wait until it all comes together!
Exciting News!!!!! SpeechyBird now has its own office space! We are temporarily closed for visits while we move. There will be an update once we are ready to see clients. We remain available by messenger, text (647-654-3455) or email ([email protected]) if you have any questions about our services. Heres a Google map link to our future location:... Unit 224 10720 Yonge St, Richmond Hill, ON L4C 3C9 https://maps.app.goo.gl/GbnPb
At SpeechyBird we follow many Hanen principles in early language intervention where parents play a huge role. The Hanen Centre now has a YouTube channel with several great videos that help explain why parents are the best language teachers for their children.
This is very exciting! A new review of the research has led to an updated age of acquisition chart for speech sounds. If you think your child has these speech sound errors past the age of acquisition indicated in the chart below, please contact Rene Lalibert at SpeechyBird.
Hello families! Well summer is over and it is time to get back in the swing of things! I am looking forward to seeing you all soon. FYI my voicemail is not working well. If you have recently left a voicemail and I havent returned your call please leave a message through facebook messenger, by text at 647-654-3455, or by email at [email protected]. I will not be using voicemail any longer as it has been unreliable. Thanks for understanding!!
