Starr Farrier Service 02.01.2021

I decided to start off Farrier week with a fresh sharp pair of GE nippers. Comes at a great time as temps skyrocket and horses hooves become hard as rocks

Dear Valued Clients, Although I have been in contact with many of you individually lately, I would like to release an updated formal statement regarding my business in regards to COVID-19 and its effects on our community. Due to the efforts and foresight of the Ontario Farriers Association We have been included in the provincial list of essential services in order to keep your horses sound and subsequently healthy. This is a responsibility I take VERY SERIOUSLY and even more... so during this pandemic. In order to continue to serve you and your animals I have made some changes in the way I run my business in the hopes of reducing my risks from very low to virtually negligible. -I have been practising social distancing 24/7. No handshake policy, 2 m space. Zero drive thrus or takeout - In order to drastically cut down on client interaction I have utilized the services of a horse holder who is a member of my nuclear family And who has also been practising social distancing 24/7. - We ask that horses be contained to a stall or a small pen. We will provide our own lead ropes. - Halters should be applied an hour before the appointment if not I will provide a halter - Equipment sterilized with Virkon. Boots tools gloves - If possible, no other people in the barn for one hour before or after. Please avoid touching your horses for an hour before or after appointment, including picking out feet - Extending intervals between hoofcare appts. -working outside if weather/flies permits -Ask the doors be propped open and lights left on -Any latchs or door handles sterilized with Virkon before and after. - E transfer preferable. If would cash/check must be used I request it to be in a Ziploc bag which will be disinfected and set aside for a week. -Buzz will remain in the truck and I will not Pet client dogs - if you have been out of Canada or feel unwell please share this with me in confidence. -If I feel unwell (even a common cold) I will commence a formal two-week Quarantine I realize that it is a very scary time, some of Starr Farriers Services bio security protocols really bring to light the severity of the situation and the emotions that go along with that. Many of you are used to being very involved in your horses hoof care and I know it is difficult, especially for those of you in boarding facilities who are not able to see your horses at this time. As a passionate horse lover myself I can relate. This year’s show season will be effected and people will be under financial stress. At the end of the day horses require basic hoof maintenance to stay healthy and with your help I would like to make that happen with AS CLOSE TO ZERO RISK as possible . In the words of a great mentor of mine Stay Healthy Thank you for your loyalty and support. Any questions or concerns please contact me at 519-375-1171 -Natalie Starr CJF Proprietor, Starr Farrier Services

I am following certain protocols and communicating with clients about their concerns. At this point in the situation, farriers are still considered essential services, And our inter-human contact compared to others is pretty minimal. And I want to remind people that farriers run on a fairly tight schedule, especially in the spring. This means that if you choose to have an appointment rescheduled for a week or two, your horse will likely be fine, but there will be a backl...og of work to be done in the future when there is an insurmountable number of horses becoming desperate for hoof care. Starting on Monday the 28th I will have an experienced horse holder to allow barn staff to focus on other chores and practice social distancing. Invoices can be paid Ahead of time by cash left In a designated locationor later by E transfer Please call or text 519 375 1171 if you have any concerns you’d like to discuss. And we’ll all find a way to get through these next few weeks. Stay safe! Stay healthy! And thank you for your business.
