The Stettler Information and Referral Board of Directors would like to thank everyone who Read, Liked and Shared our new FaceBook Page. Although it's a work in progress, stay tuned for upcoming announcements regarding the Income Tax Program, Volunteer Appreciation and so much more.

The Stettler Information and Referral Program is a charitable organization that provides a wide variety of services to Stettler and area. We provide these serv...ices 3 days per week. Community Volunteer Income Tax Program- provides free income tax returns to seniors, Newcomers, low income families, students, etc on a year around basis. We currently do around 500 returns with the help of volunteers during March and April and another 100 during the rest of the year. Volunteer Centre match and recruit volunteers for community events and agencies. We also participate in National Volunteer Week every year , putting on a recognition event for our volunteers. Information and Referral- provide up-to-date information on services and programs in Stettler : I.e. Mental Health Referrals, who sells sod in Town, what is the number to that train? Where do I go for marriage counselling? People call in, drop in or email questions that they need answered. Form completion- we help many clients complete AISH forms, CPP Disability, and any other form that someone needs help with. Also advocate for clients by writing letters, assisting to make phone calls, to help them to remove barriers to day to day living Seniors Programs- we provide assistance to fill out Old Age Security, CPP, Alberta Seniors benefits forms, help seniors review their letters, assist to make online accounts, make telephone calls to clarify matters. Have also done two presentations in 2018 on seniors benefits and have another one coming up through Adult Learning in later January 2019. Commissioner for Oaths- Lorraine is a Commissioner for Oaths and that is a free service to anyone that needs one. Guardianship/Trusteeship and Personal Directives- hold a contract with the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee to offer assistance with completing court forms for Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship, provide resources , assist families with completing a Personal Directive. Also do presentations on all three topics and will be having a session through Adult Learning in May 2019. Videoconferencing with a lawyer we have partnered with the Central Alberta Community Legal Clinic to provide clients with a free hour session with a lawyer via SKYPE. Appointments are made through the Central Alberta Legal Clink, then clients come to our office to sit down with a lawyer out of Red Deer who does Pro Bono work. Alleviates barriers in relation to cost and transportation to Red Deer. Early Childhood Coalition- we are the financial sponsor for the Early Childhood Coalition who assists families with children 0-6 providing various activities and information at community functions. Services for Newcomers- we have been assisting Newcomers and New Canadians with online applications for Citizenship, Landed Immigrant Status, Passport applications, Working Visa renewals, etc.
