Good morning parents. The St John XXIII School Advisory Council has a small favour to ask of you. It will take 2 minutes, and could be a big help in ensuring that your children's schools receive better funding in future government budgets. As you may know, all or most school board budgets have been significantly cut by the government. This is causing serious problems at almost all Alberta schools. Larger class sizes, reduced maintenance & equipment funds, and layoffs of teach...ers, educational assistants, & other staff are all things that are happening already. These directly and negatively impact the education that your child receives, as well as the lives of affected school staff. We would like you to go to this government survey as soon as possible, and enter your opinion on education funding: https://www.alberta.ca/budget-consultation.aspx THE SURVEY IS VERY SHORT, and if there's a huge outcry from the public demanding more money for education, there's a good chance that will happen. We recommend that you do it RIGHT NOW, or set a reminder for yourself, to avoid missing the February 7th deadline. We need as many voices as possible! Thanks in advance, and have a great day!

Tonight (Tuesday Jan 21st) we have a School Advisory Council meeting at 7:00 in the school's staff room. It would be great to see more parents out!

A reminder: On Wednesday, January 22nd the grades 6-9 band students will be performing at West Meadows Baptist Church at 7:00 p.m. This year’s theme is Name That Tune Parents and family members are invited to attend. Individual students will also be performing between each group. We hope to see you all there!

A reminder that this is happening TODAY at 7:00 in the staff lunchroom of the school. If you have kids in French Immersion, it would be great to see you there. We are advocating for Immersion programming at Mother Margaret Mary in Terwillegar for our students currently in Grade 9. At the moment, Grade 10s need to bus to J.H. Picard or Archbishop MacDonald, both quite far away. Info below: The St. John XXIII School Advisory Council will be holding a special information meeting... on November 4 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held to share information on current French Immersion programing in ECSD, included pathways for high school French Immersion programing in the school division. John Fiacco, Assistant Superintendent of Planning will be attending to give parents an overview of French Immersion Programming in the district, including the current process that is being undertaken at present to examine all second language programing in ECSD. Trustee Lisa Turchansky will also be present to answer your questions.
