Today is Trans Day of Remembrance. Transgender people face many challenges in our increasingly polarized society. Even as gains have recently been made, when it comes to legal rights and medical coverage, for the first time in decades, public opinion polls show declining rates of tolerance for queer folks, especially transgender individuals. And, as anyone who follows this page knows, there has never been less solidarity among queer and feminist folk than at this particular... historical moment; that makes all of us less safe. That is why it is important for us to rally around important points of agreement among our social movements. Both trans men and trans women face men's violence on a large scale in this society. This is something we can all recognize and all rally against. If there is an event in your town (see the listing), I urge you to attend.

If you can't wait for our rebroadcast time on Saturday, you can listen to today's episode of Missing Peter Gzowski in Prince George on Anchor, Spotify or your preferred podcasting service. I talk with defeated BC NDP Prince George-Valemount candidate Laura Parent and re-elected BC Liberal Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris about glyphosate spraying, holistic forestry, BC's rural-urban divide and the future of the BC Liberal Party following their historic defeat.

In the November 9th episode of Missing Peter Gzowski in Prince George, I interview long-time friend of the show Laura Parent, unsuccessful NDP candidate in Prince George-Valemount and Mike Morris, the re-elected BC Liberal MLA for Prince George-Mackenzie. The show has a longer introduction than usual so as to introduce audiences outside BC's rural industrial belt to a major debate about the use of herbicides in silviculture and the ecological and economic implications of gly...phosate spraying. That's because Mike is speaking out against Canfor's silviculture plan for the Prince George area and calling for an end to glyphosate spraying, a courageous stand for a conservative MLA for a riding where Canfor, owned by BC's most venerable billionaire, is one of the largest employers. We also discuss the future of the BC Liberals following their crushing defeat at the polls and the widening gap between public opinion in BC's rural industrial belt and the rest of the province.
