Superior Drafting and Design 22.11.2020

We attended the grand opening of Damara Spa's newest location in the Double Tree Inn at 16615 109 Ave NW Edmonton last week. It was a great success based on the turn out of Damara clients and friends. Everyone expressed approval of the design and the great work done by the general contractor Finewood Enterprises. This is the first location Superior has worked on with Damara Spa and we are looking toward working on many more locations in the future. Congratulations Darlene!

Superior Drafting and Design 02.11.2020

Fall & winter was very busy with commercial projects. Superior provided design services for three new Red Swan Pizzas in the Edmonton area and one new Friotu Chicken location in Strathmore in conjunction with Core Contracting. Also completed was a new Wing'N It location in conjunction with Red Tree Projects in Stony Plain. We also designed the new Phat Tee Foods and Double Ace Auto in Calgary. On going projects include a new Damara Spa in Edmonton and two projects with Red Tree Projects including a fourplex and a exterior renovation to an apartment building. As is typical the summer season brings a slowdown in projects and time becoming available for new projects. If you have a project you are considering for the fall/winter/spring construction seasons now is a great time to get Superior Drafting & Design involved.

City of Calgary Secondary Suites process reform. By now, everyone who has a lot zoned R-1, R-C1 and R-C1L has received a letter from the City stating secondary suites are now going to become a discretionary use. What does this mean? In the past every secondary suite application would go to City council for debate and a decision. This step has been removed with the decision being left to the building department. Removing this step has made the permitting less complicated but has not changed the actual building requirements. Suites still need to meet the City zoning and Provincial building codes. Superior is introducing new comprehensive engineering / architectural service clients who are opening new stores in commercial spaces. In most cases the landlord requires stamped architectural drawings for new tenants in their buildings and some cities require the same stamped drawings and schedules. Superior has engaged a group of professionals who can provide mechanical, electrical and architectural stamped drawings and schedules as required. Superior provides the initial d...esign drawings of the space, co-ordination with the engineers and submission to the landlord for review and approval. Superior can also submit to the City, applications for development permits, new or first tenants, change of use, tenant improvement and building permits.
