Dear Summit West Families, We hope everyone is having a safe and relaxing summer. As promised, we are providing an update on our school re-entry plan for September 2020. A few days ago, Alberta Education announced that we will be proceeding with Scenario #1: in-school classes resume (near normal with health measures). This means that all students will come back to school Monday to Friday. To learn the details of the Provincial K-12 school re-entry plan please visit: https://...www.alberta.ca/k-to-12-school-re-entry-2020-21-scho. For many people, this is welcome news and relief. However, for others this decision may cause anxiety. The health and safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Our staff will work diligently with Alberta Health Services and the Ministry of Education to implement the recommended public health measures outlined in Scenario #1. We hope that everyone will return to their regular in-class environment in the new school year. As an alternative, we are developing other options prior to opening in September. For students and families interested in an alternative environment or pathway, information about these options will be coming later in August. Summit West is prepared to support families as we work together to continue education. Additional detailed information on school resumption will be shared by Administration as things develop. I would like to thank you, parents and guardians, for having confidence in us. There are many challenges ahead, but working together and with a family like ours, we can open SWIS back up and teach students how to live in a world with COVID-19.
