Lest we forget Rememberance day has a special meaning for me, to me it's the day I remember not only all those who have sacrificed; but also my grandad or Papasan. A veteran of the second world war, he served in continental Europe from 1941-1946. He was one of only 200 Japanese soldiers to serve Canada, they were called Nisei meaning their parents were immigrants from Japan. Over time I was told many stories about his experience and about the horrors that so many sold...iers had to endure. But you could never tell how much it affected him, he was always cheerful and full of life. He was the only father figure that I ever had and I owe so much of who I am to him. The key to a long life is diet coke apparently, miss you Papa. Ja ne, arigato gosaimasu Shigeo-san.

It's easy to get caught up in your work sometimes, even if it is something that you enjoy. We have to remember to take time away, to stay grounded, to relax, to enjoy things that you enjoy doing just for the sake of doing it. To follow your passions, wherever they may take you. I love what I do, real estate is the career for me. However one of my passions is to travel. I found a love for it years ago. It has taken me to 11 countries in the last 4 years. Experiencing d...ifferent cultures and meeting new people, visiting history and reconnecting with nature. Last year I got to trek up to Machu Picchu in Peru, truly an unforgettable experience. Not only for the views but for my first bout with altitude sickness. Having nausea and not being able to keep food and water down, was challenging but doing so while climbing is a completely different struggle. Upon making it to the top I was exhausted but I was glad I pushed through. The view was breathtaking. It was also a reminder that to get anywhere we have to take things one step at a time. One step is not particularly harder than the last nor easier than the next, but it still had to be taken nonetheless. Whether it be your work or something you're passionate about we must always keep moving. We were not meant to stay stagnant. A rolling stone doesn't gather any moss, so they say. Keep on going until you make it to the tippity top of whatever mountain you're climbing. Firm handshakes everyone
