Today is World Against Human Trafficking Day and this is what I’m doing. You may have heard me talk about this recently and I know it’s a very uncomfortable subject. Part of me always knew that this was happening but I had no idea that it was having happening on such a massive scale in the world. When I learned that information I knew that there was no way that I could continue on ignoring this. I don’t believe that we need to be afraid of this. We need to be aware, we need ...to be educated, and we need to be vigilant about protecting our kids. The problem with fear is that it blocks us from taking action so that is not an emotion that I’m willing to go to anymore. A few weeks ago, I opened registration for my June 15 round of the FASTer Way to Fat Loss. But I could not bring myself to post about it. I have been thinking and reading and learning since George Floyd was killed and to be honest, I am one of those who is afraid of doing or saying the wrong thing. But as a mom, thinking of George calling out for his mom or thinking of Breonna Taylor's mom waiting for her daughter at the hospital, not knowing she was dead in her room at home......it makes my heart ache and my blood boil. As a mom, it's horrifying. As a human, it's horrifying. I understand that simply not being racist is not enough. We need to be anti-racist and we need to raise anti-racist children. I still have so much learning to do. I am opening registration for a June 22nd round of the FASTer Way and I will be donating $40 from each registration to an anti-racism organization. I need to do more research on which one, so if you have any suggestions please let me know. This may not be the right thing to some people. But it's something, and I don’t want to be afraid to make a move in a better direction. See more
