GAME ON Beginning on Jan. 25, all of our players will once again be allowed to play games across the province. We are grateful that our members will once agai...n be able to compete. We know that this year has been a challenging one but we appreciate all of the sacrifices that our members have made to get to this point. We feel fortunate to be part of a small minority of hockey players across the country that are currently permitted to be on the ice. Keep up the great work. Details below. https://bit.ly/3992uXO

PROVINCIAL RESTRICTIONS: We want to let you all know that earlier today, the province extended the restrictions announced on Dec. 16 for an additional two weeks.... That means that the current restrictions will remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 24. Compared to other areas of the country, we know our players are fortunate to be able to practice with their teammates. However, we also know that many of our members are extremely disappointed that they are not yet able to play games. We have been in regular contact with Public Health while these restrictions have been in place and we will continue to advocate on behalf of our membership. We are confident in our Rebound Plan. We have made it clear to the government that we want to get our teams back to playing games as soon as possible. We will continue to express this to the province on your behalf. Many of you may be aware of the struggles of SMBE student Hunter Marsden, and his family, as he battles neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer. Recently they have suffered yet another setback. ( Visit the Heroes For Hunter facebook page for updates from the family.) In an effort to show them just how much this community supports them, a few of us are organizing a " flash mob" style drive-by /parade for this Sunday, Dec. 20th at 4:30. It's super easy and Covid safe to participate.... Just come to the meeting location ( corner of Carnoustie Drive and Ballybunion Run in Glen Arbor) at 4:30. Stay in your vehicle ( decorated if you feel inspired- think glow sticks, christmas lights, inflatable Santas or homemade signs) and join the line of cars. Once we have a good group of us, we'll head out and " parade" by their home, honking, waiving and spreading goodwill. As you can imagine, this journey has caused financial strain on the family so they will also have a spot set up where you can make a donation if you like. See more

Potential Exposure to COVID-19 Dauphinee Centre (SMU) NS Health has indicated that there is a potential COVID-19 exposure at the Dauphinee Centre (Saint Mary’s University 934 Tower Road) at any time between November 18 and November 22. Anyone who visited this location on the specified dates and times are to immediately book a test, regardless of whether or not they have symptoms. They are also required to self-isolate before their test and while waiting for test results. As... always, you can contact 811 for further information. The link to the exposure sites is https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus/alerts-notices/ and it is good to bookmark this and review it daily. We have reviewed our master ice schedule and based upon our review, we did not have any teams playing during these dates. However, we are sending along in case any of you have extra ice booked with the SMU or if you were there for any other reason.

Important - Hockey Paused from November 25th to December 9th Good Evening TASA Families, As many of you have heard, the Province in conjunction with Public Health, have made a number of additional restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19. One of these measures is to suspend team sports within the Western and Central Zone for two weeks beginning 12:01am on Thursday, November 26th. All hockey activities, both on and off the ice, from November 26th until December 9th. ... Hockey Nova Scotia has gone a step further in an abundance of caution and enacted these changes a day earlier, meaning that our hockey season has paused effective 12:01AM on November 25th. All games, practices and other hockey activities are cancelled for November 25th as well as the period of November 26th to December 9th. We will include the link on our social media/website to the Hockey Nova Scotia press release once it becomes available. As the hockey season pauses for a couple of weeks, we ask that teams find creative ways to stay in virtual contact. In my discussions today with the TASA Executive and with many team managers and safety reps, they have indicated to me the fun things they have planned with their teams. This includes virtual ZOOM meetings, different challenges that they have to report on during a team meeting, and some were doing some fun trivia. I thought these were fantastic ways to keep everyone connected and ready to hit the ice skating when we are back on. We encourage team representatives to post their creative ways to keep in touch over the pause period on our social media pages. Your creativity during the pause may help others who are thinking of ways to keep their teams connected. We will be in touch as we have additional information over the next couple of weeks. Until then, stay safe!

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, we have worked closely with Public Health. We have used the guidelines and advice of Public Health officials to build our eve...r-evolving return plan. Throughout this process, safety has always been our top priority. We have heard some concerns about teams travelling to and from the Central Zone, as well as about overnight travel throughout the province. We are aware of these concerns and they are being reviewed by our Rebound Plan steering committee. In the meantime, we will continue to work with our partners from Public Health and the province to ensure that all of their recommended guidelines and safety measures are followed. We will also be consulting immediately with our associations, leagues, and scheduling bodies across Nova Scotia to ensure that we are prepared and ready to act quickly. For now, please continue to follow the Rebound Plan and the Public Health guidelines. Remember to practice proper hygiene and physical distancing. Most importantly, please stay home if you are unwell. We will send another communication following this afternoon’s update from the provincial government.
