There is now hearing aid technology that is designed to help the wearer stay independent. With this technology, falls can be detected and alert messages sent to selected contacts. Just like our smartwatches can track our steps and other movements our hearing aids can do that now too!... You may have noticed that tracking your fitness activities may actually inspire you to continue or increase your activity. Start the new year off right! Ask us about this new technology! #independence #HealthyHearing #technology

Hearing loss is actually a risk factor in cognitive decline and dementia. Several different factors contribute to this. To put it simply hearing loss prevents the auditory cortex from being stimulated. Also,if you can’t participate in a conversation you're simply not engaging your brain. If you are gathering with family this holiday season take notice if someone in your family is having a hard time understanding or following the conversation. Most times it’s our family membe...rs who notice our troubles in conversation first! Message us to learn how we can help! #cognitivedecline #hearingloss #amplification #dementia #brain #hearinganddizzinessclinic #youhear #519amherstburg #519essex #519lasalle #519harrow #519mcgregor

I must let you know, due to allergies I feel very congested today- I’m afraid it might affect my hearing test. Did you know that with a routine hearing evaluation I can tell if your hearing loss is caused by middle ear issues (congestion, fullness, middle ear fluid) or nerve loss in the inner ear? Yup, that’s right! I have different ways of testing your hearing that allows me to figure out just where your hearing loss is occuring! ... Have you ever had a hearing test?

If you or someone you know has diabetes the likelihood of hearing loss multiplies by two. Just like high blood glucose can damage organs such as eyes and kidneys it can also damage the inner ear. Our inner ears are extremely sensitive to blood flow and even our eardrums include a network of small blood vessels! If you or your loved one has diabetes a routine hearing evaluation should be a part of your yearly check ups!
