New policies and procedures we’re implementing to comply with government regulations. Key points not in the video: - Please refrain from bringing your dog to daycare if you or anyone in your household has in the last 14 days travelled out of the country, tested positive for COVID-19, have symptoms of fever/cough/shortness of breath, or been deemed a close contact of a presumed or positive case. If you are sick, self-isolating or in self-quarantine your dog should stay w...ith you. - NO retractable leashes will be allowed - We encourage payments be made via E-Transfer, and not cash or cheque Key points in video: - We’re asking clients to wear a mask or face covering when picking up and dropping off their dog(s). Due to the tight space of our front entrance and the handing off of dogs, adequate physical distancing may not be possible. - Only one person and their dog(s) in the front entrance at a time. Please wait in your car for your turn. Be prepared to allow for extra time for dropping off and picking up of your dogs. We’ll try our best to be as fast and efficient as possible. We’re excited to re-open the daycare and see the HL family again! Let us know if your doggo is ready for daycare action and book via this post, FB messenger or email [email protected]. If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact us. June 2nd here we come!! A big shout out to Max and Layla for being troopers while mom took forever getting the video footage.

The Hound Lounge Doggie Daycare 07.09.2020

Today is a bitter sweet announcement. As of October 1st, I will no longer be the owner of The Hound Lounge. It was a very hard decision to sell the daycare. As many of you know I’ve been struggling with unresolved health issues since January. I am no longer able to operate the daycare as it deserves and requires. With no end in sight for relief, it’s best for the daycare and myself to step back. Now for the sweet news, Conrad is the proud new owner!! He’s been with The H...L for the past two years and is excited to take on this new adventure. Conrad would like to reassure all clients that very little in regards to how the daycare is run will be changing, we will still maintain small group sizes, a calm atmosphere and dog centred approach to the business. Although the owner has changed the business model has not and will not. While Conrad and I haven’t worked out all the details, I will remain on as a part-time employee and you’ll still see me around. I want to thank The HL family for all of your support! It’s been a real honour and privilege to be a small business owner with such great clients, and to spend my days with all the doggos. Now, it’s Conrad’s turn to take the leash and start his daycare venture!

We’ll be extending our hours to 7am-6pm starting Tuesday Sept 8th. We would also like to add Wednesday’s starting Sept 9th to our Tuesday/Thursday schedule. In order to make that happen, we’ll need at least 10 dogs booked in. Please let us know if you’re interested in Wednesday’s and if we have enough dogs we’ll open up.

We have made the tough decision to close Wednesday’s for the rest of July and we’ll reassess for August. Unfortunately, less than 50% of the pre-COVID dogs have returned to daycare. It’s simply not feasible for us to remain open on days that are far less than capacity at this time. Once Tuesday’s and Thursday’s fill up we’ll start a wait list for another day. When the minimum number of dogs is met we’ll open up. For now our hours will remain the same 7:30-5:30. We strongly en...courage dogs to be booked on a regular schedule. This will allow for both days to fill up appropriately and accommodate as many dogs as possible. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you’re looking for days and times outside of what we’re currently offering. This will help us in determining client interest in dog attendance . We totally understand that these are some uncertain times right now and the possible struggles with this new normal we all face. It has definitely been an adjustment for us too and we’d love to be here for you and your doggos. See more

In all honesty I don’t know what role dogs play in the COVID-19 pandemic. I’ve been closely following the OIE, WHO, AVMA and CDC. Animal health officials have not concluded any definitive answers, so it makes it more difficult for businesses like ours, as there’s no guidelines to follow. It’s all in how you interpret the information being provided. While I’m sure the dogs in our homes are safe, it’s the contact with other dogs and humans outside of our household that may pose... a risk of being exposed and possibly transmitting the virus. Granted this seems to be unlikely, but nonetheless not proven impossible. I’ve always believed in erring on the side caution when it comes to the health and safety of the daycare dogs and staff. Truthfully I’ve never really had to take into account the daycare dogs families before. The HL is responsible for the well-being of up to 25 dogs a day, and now their families. The sheer number of dogs we have everyday makes the risk even greater, with more contacts-both with dogs and humans. This pandemic is taking lives! It’s no longer just about the health of the dogs, it’s about protecting the lives of the people we know and love, and the lives of people we’ve never met. The HL will remain closed, even though dog daycares have been classified as an allowable business service by the government of Sask. I feel it’s the responsible action to take, and again I just don’t know if and how much risk the dogs and humans would have if I opened the daycare. At this time, with the information I have, I am not comfortable with potentially putting anyone at risk and I would hate to be contributing to this pandemic. Public health officials are really pushing everyone to stay home and only leave their house for essential reasons. We want to do our part to protect our community. We will keep everyone posted if we receive any new information and hope to open as soon as it’s safe to do so. Stay safe and healthy!

Working long hours and day after day . The daycare remains mandated to be closed and we’re unable to provide our services. If you’re needing any help with the care of your pets during this time, please contact Crystal. Thank you to all essential workers! We appreciate you keeping our community healthy, safe and running!

I know there’s a lot of questions that surround pets and COVID-19. Dr.Cliff has some great information. There are a couple things I’d like to add. First, two dogs in Hong Kong were infected with the COVID-19 virus following close exposure to owners who were sick with COVID-19 according to the OIE(World Organisation for Animal Health). Dr.Cliff explains in the comments ...the two dogs that were tested positive, it was shown that they had the virus within their sinuses but di...d not have it within them systemically. They did not develop any sort of immune system response to it. Dogs do not contain the ACE2 cell receptor in their lungs that covid needs to attach to. Dogs can carry the virus but not become infected by it. Physiologically speaking that is a very distinct difference. I’m not a medical professional, so I’m not sure which is true. Were the dogs clinically infected or not? But, it does lead me to believe at least that the virus was found on the dogs. Second, depending on your local governing body, veterinarians can in fact be essential services. This is a new virus, and while it may be closely related to SARS, COVID-19 is different and research is rapidly underway. In my opinion the vast majority of research is focused on humans. Dr. Cliff does start off by saying, everything he’s saying is based off highly educated predictions. We may have to wait until this pandemic settles down before we receive absolution from animal health officials about our pets role. What I take away from this is now is the time for caution. When something is unknown, it’s better to be safe than sorry. We’re all in this together! All we want is for our pets and us humans to be healthy, safe and happy

At Home Training The HL and Conrad are implementing a new way to help keep up with your pups training, start your training process, keep your pups active during these times, and personal training advice by adding a Facebook group totally dedicated to all things dog training. We will be offering 2 training videos a week, discussions, personal training advice and private Skype or FaceTime training with Conrad right at home! This group will be a subscription based group and you... will have access to all of the information in the group. The subscription will be $30 weekly or $100 per month. We will also be offering Skype or FaceTime assessments for dogs whom have not been to The HL before at $20, and Skype or FaceTime private lessons for $50 per lesson. Please note that private lessons will be limited to what we can do on our devices so we will not be offering aggression or major behaviour modifications including people and dog/animal introductions. How to subscribe: Search The HL Training Group on Facebook and request to join by answering the questions and then sending your subscription payment to [email protected] If you do not have Facebook, please email us at the email above and we will send new videos to you each week! If you have any questions comments or concerns feel free to email Conrad! This will be a very fun and helpful group to really make the most of your time with your pups at home :) See more

We have made the difficult decision to temporarily close the daycare, due to COVID-19. As a small business this wasn’t an easy decision. Not only is it for the health of our staff, daycare dogs and their families, it’s for our community. We want to do our part and practice social distancing and help in the effort to protect ourselves and the most vulnerable. We hope to re-open as soon as it’s safe to do so. We want to thank our clients for their understanding and patience with us as we navigate this unprecedented situation.

The Hound Lounge Doggie Daycare 04.01.2020

Our Coronavirus/COVID-19 response: Currently, there’s no indication that dogs can become clinically infected with COVID-19. That being said, it is unclear at this time if they can be carriers of the virus and pass it to humans and other dogs. The health and safety of our daycare dogs and our staff is of the utmost importance to us. In an abundance of caution and in the effort to minimize the spread of the virus. we are requiring dogs to remain at home and not attend daycare i...f the following situations apply to their owners/parents: - Recently travelled outside of Canada and are in self-isolation for the recommended 14 days - Experiencing flu/cold like symptoms themselves, and/or anyone in the household - Had any exposure to symptomatic or confirmed positive cases, or confirmed positive themselves We would also like to ask when dropping off and picking up your dogs to practice social distancing. Keeping it to a maximum of 2 parents in the front entrance at the same time, standing 2 meters apart. The COVID-19 pandemic is new to all of us, and is changing rapidly. Please keep connected to our social media for updates. Thank you See more

I wanted to send out a big thank you to everyone for your support and heeling thoughts during this difficult time for me! Unfortunately, I still have this migraine/headache. It’s now been just over 7 weeks straight. None of the migraine treatments have relieved my symptoms, including the one from the neurologist I was referred to by my family Dr. I’ve now asked for a referral to another neurologist to get a second opinion. This is where our health care system really lacks i...n patient care. I waited 5 weeks for the first neurologist appointment, and now they said it would be another 6 weeks before I could get in for a second appointment. It could also take months for me to see another neurologist for the second opinion. At this point I’m completely frustrated and defeated, not to mention bedridden at home and at the daycare. Not knowing when I’ll be back to normal. Again, THANK YOU for your understanding that I may not be the most on top of things, friendly, and presentable. I look forward to the day I can shout out and say I’m back to being me! See more

Unfortunately, due to my never ending migraine(20 days and counting) we will not be having a Valentine’s Party at this time. Physically and mentally this migraine has kicked my butt and I’m unable to fulfill the party tasks. My apologies to everyone!

You may have noticed I haven’t been in the daycare much these past 2 weeks. Just wanted to give everyone an update. Last Tuesday my dog Max was vomiting, wouldn’t eat(which has never happened in his 10yrs of life), and lethargic. We took him into the U of S Small Animal Clinic that evening. During his physical assessment the vet found a mass in his rectum. Long story short Max started to feel better within a few days, but they needed to do more testing to figure out the mass.... Today we got the good news that it isn’t cancer! It is a lipoma(benign tumour made up of fat tissue). It is quite large in size 3.5cm x 5cm, so he may need surgery to remove it, as it could cause pressure and issue with his colon and sciatic nerve. But for now we are going to monitor its growth and go from there. Still not sure what caused him to be sick in the first place, but this gave us the opportunity to find the mass, which otherwise may have gone unnoticed. It’s been a very exhausting and stressful time, being at the vet 5 times in the last 9 days, but relieved to hear a more positive diagnosis. On top of that, I’ve had a migraine since Friday. Conrad and Wendy have been holding down the fort. I’m so glad to have such a great team at the daycare!! Fingers crossed I’ll be feeling better for next week. Thank you everyone for your patience and understanding at this time. I may not be as quick responding to messages as usual. See more
