COVID has impacted people in different ways, many of which are troubling. I have had the privilege of coaching several clients who are facing a variety of challenges through COVID. What I believe has been helpful for these conversations is admitting that I too have struggled through this pandemic. Exchanging experiences within a conversation of trust prompts the client and coach to explore ways of modifying our mindset, attitude, assumptions and beliefs and coming up with... some coping strategies. We, at The Coaching Lens are here to chat with you. Contact us to begin the conversation. Written by Carole Murphy

Wondering what to do with Covid Thoughts, Feelings and Fears? Why not begin your Journaling Journey For your complimentary Step-by-Step Journaling Guide Email Carole at [email protected]... After 200+ days of coping with Covid-19 by journaling, Coach Carole offers this comforting advice: Your journal does not mind receiving your stress, anger, worries, frustrations and even your tears. In fact, it holds your honesty and vulnerability in trust. In time, you will notice that putting those feelings to paper is a way to loosen the tension that exists with holding them in. Letting go is freeing. Discover the possibilities. #journaling#stress#anxiety#covid#coaching

What is happening to TRUST? By Mary Ann Tucker As you all know, great leadership is a passion for me. This passion is what propelled me into coaching, first to improve my own skills as a leader and now as a Leadership Coach to assist others in being the best leader they can be. After watching a CBC feature story on the changing landscape of work environments, I found myself increasingly frustrated and disappointed. Understanding that only a few companies were interviewed for ...this story, I know that one cannot generalize that this behaviour is happening in all workplaces. However, the interviewees described the lengths that Leaders are taking within their organizations to ensure that their employees are following the rules and being productive. New positions in one company called Change Champions have the role of monitoring the compliance of employees to the COVID rules and are charged with reporting offenders to management. Another company talked about creating software that would track all activities of employees while they are working online at home. What is happening to TRUST? In crisis, change and recovery, trust is essential. Leaders need the ability to create an environment of trust, where employees feel valued and inspired to be productive, creative and innovative, while still being safe. In a fear-based, control-driven environment, employees will not thrive. Leaders, more than ever, need to be agile during COVID-19. Leaders are feeling the pressure to be diligent in keeping their work environments and their employees safe, yet must balance this with due diligence with inspiring vision, relationship-centred leadership, collaboration, accountability and productivity. No small task indeed. Leadership Agility is an essential skill for leading people and organizations during this period of COVID-19. Leaders cannot fall into the trap of fear-based leadership, using power and control that undermines trust. Agile leaders are self-aware and adaptable, exhibiting the character traits and skills required to lean into the many changing demands and contexts of leadership. Leadership Coaching is a powerful tool for today’s changing environment. We would welcome the chance to discuss the challenges and opportunities you are facing as a leader and how The Coaching Lens can assist you in enhancing your leadership agility.

The Coaching Lens is a collaborative partnership of dynamic professional coaches, Mary Ann Tucker, Ida Kmiec Carole Murphy and our writer Jill Pillon who believe in the transformational power of coaching for personal growth, team effectiveness and leadership development. As coaches we honour YOU as the expert in your life. Coaching facilitates CHANGE through a professional relationship built on trust and respect. Coaching provides you with opportunities to deepen self- aw...areness, explore possibilities and become the person you want to be. Coaching is now recognized as an essential leadership skill. Historically coaching was offered to strengthen a low performing employee. Today effective leaders use coaching or a coaching approach to strengthen high performing individuals, teams and organizations. Our Leadership Philosophy: Leadership is not just something we do. Leadership is an expression of who we are; our values, purpose, character strengths, beliefs and behaviours. Authentic Leadership begins with a clear awareness and understanding of who we are, what we care about, why we do what we do... it is a continual journey of learning and self-awareness.

With yesterday’s announcement, let's keep in mind everyone has different circumstances. As lockdown starts to ease..... you decide for you, I'll decide for me. None of us have the same circumstances (medically high risk child/ family member or a business about to go under, etc.) Let's all stay in our own lanes and keep the judgement down as we begin to unlock. No one should feel pressured either way. Just a thought... As all of us are trying to figure out how to ease back i...nto normal, please remember: Some people don’t agree with the unlocking.... that’s ok. Be kind. Some people are still planning to stay home.... that’s ok. Be kind. Some are still scared of getting the virus and a second wave happening.... that’s ok. Be kind. Some are sighing with relief to go back to work knowing they may not lose their business or their homes....that’s ok. Be kind. Some are thankful they can finally have the surgery they have had put off....that’s ok. Be kind. Some will be able to attend interviews after weeks without a job....that’s ok. Be kind. Some will wear masks for weeks.... that’s ok. Be kind. Some people will rush out to get their hair or nails done.... that’s ok. Be kind. The point is, everyone has different viewpoints/feelings and that’s ok. Be kind. We each have a different story. If you need to stay home, stay home. But be kind. If you need to go out, just respect others when in public and be kind! Don’t judge fellow humans because you’re not in their story. We all are in different mental states than we were months ago. So remember, be kind. Not our words. Copied and pasted from a post that is spreading. But great messages. Be kind, be non judgemental, and respectful . Everyone has a different story, perspective and reality.

What a great reminder and this is a perfect way to keep a positive mindset. Are you feeling undermined, uneasy, depressed exhausted? I think these are all norma...l feelings considering the way we are forced to communicate these days. Just remember if you have good intentions, a positive attitude and love in your heart... the way people respond, speak to you, or take advantage.... let it go. The truth will prevail. #youdoyou #staypositive #somepeopleneverchange #youcanonlychangeyourself See more

Some inspirational quotes from Victor Frankl during this time... "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms: to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way." "In some ways suffering ceases to be suffering at the moment it finds a meaning such as the meaning of sacrifice."... lhttps://www.google.ca/url?sa=i&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DNj_gZtxSFtc&psig=AOvVaw1nFLWPO_aZzEqHCfiXweJI&ust=1588000494068000&source=images&cd=vfe&ved=0CAIQjRxqFwoTCNj81YKxhukCFQAAAAAdAAAAABAK
