DAY 11 : Our second-to-last stop on the @dreamfactorytour is an important one - it's our "DREAM MACHINE". The Dream Machine is what powers our factory and helps brings dreams to life. Most importantly, it's powered by YOU - our Dream Factory community! We are very lucky to get to work with some incredible kids from across Manitoba, but the truth is that we rely on the support of so many to keep our DREAM MACHINE operating and making dreams come true. Whether it's ...through a donation, volunteer role, or by hosting a fundraiser - your support makes you part of our Dream Family, and we cannot thank you enough for your commitment to making dreams come true. Here are three of the ways your support helps keep the DREAM MACHINE busy : 1 GIVE: There are so many ways to give! We’re all dealing with uncertainty because of the coronavirus. But we can’t let COVID-19 and the challenges that have come with it steal Dreams from our Dream Kids this holiday season. Many of our Dream Kids have postponed their Dreams due to travel restrictions or have changed their Dreams completely. Dream Kids like Andie. Andie's cancer journey began when she was 12. She has been through a lot, but she is now cancer-free and looking forward to her Dream Come True!... Originally, Andie dreamed of visiting Disney World with her family. She has now changed her Dream to something closer to home: an above-ground swimming pool for her backyard! Andie loves to swim and her Dream will allow her to swim safely. DAY 10: On today's stop on the @dreamfactorytour we want to shine the spotlight on one of the many members of our community who have helped bring dreams to life. Our friends at the Bridge Drive-In always make our summers a little sweeter, and have been responsible for two signature desserts to help make dreams come true! In 2019, BDI launched the "Cloud Nine" cone in support of Drea's dream come true. The Cloud Nine was a dream come true - vanilla ice cream, cotton can...dy, and sprinkles of course! This year, we were excited to create "Lincoln's Lickety Split" in support of Lincoln's dream come true. The Lickety Split was a new take on the banana split with special strawberry soft serve with the help of our friends St-Léon Gardens. The Bridge Drive In has helped to raise nearly $20,000 for Dreams come true in our community - and we could not be more appreciative! DREAM UPDATE : Dream Kid Ben is currently fighting a chronic kidney disease and has an upcoming kidney transplant. Before that happens, we wanted to make Ben's 7th birthday as special as possible - and that meant LEGO! We put together the best birthday we could for Ben and his family - including pizza, LEGO cakes and cookies, and of course - all of the LEGO sets you can imagine! Here's what Ben's mom had to say about the at-home party:... "It is so touching to see your team and your donors make Ben's medical situation less difficult to handle. It really does make having the transplant less terrifying for him when he has something to look forward to afterwards. Knowing that he can dig into some Lego sets will have him asking "how many more days" in a good way! Without this silver lining having a transplant and the isolation required for it would be much harder to prepare for, especially at seven years old and in these pandemic times when staying at home will be ever-so critical for Ben." As always, there are many wonderful folks in our community we have to thank who helped bring this special dream to life. This year has been tough, but we are so grateful for all of our incredible friends who continue to believe in the power of a Dream Come True. Folks like you know what a Dream means to a child battling a life-threatening illness, and we can't thank you enough for being there for our Dream Kids. Little Rowe is one of our special friends helping to make more Dreams come true! Each year they pick a charity to support. This year they chose us! Here is how they are helping to br...ing more Dreams to life: #Repost Meet our dream child Éveline Each year we pick a charity to donate 10% of our profits to. This year we chose @thedreamfactorymb . We were connected with an amazing dream family that sent us this letter about their sweet girl: To share the impact of Éveline's medical journey on our family - she is the only baby on peritoneal dialysis in Manitoba, and only the 3rd baby with this prognosis to make it to their first birthday. She has spent 173 days of her short life in the hospital, has had 6 surgeries, 11 infections, and will need a kidney transplant when she grows big enough. With all of that said, there is so much more to Éveline than her medical history. She is the youngest sibling to 2 sister and one brother, whom she absolutely adores. She's incredibly stubborn (if her medical battle hasn't already proven that), has a very persistent attitude, and will do anything she can on her own. We love receiving updates about Éveline (swipe to see the cutest photo of her in some new little Rowe pieces). DAY 9 : It's hard to believe we're already on the 9th day of our @dreamfactorytour. Today we wanted to throw back to a very special Dream come true for Dream Kid Maia. In 2017, Maia was diagnosed with high risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at only 3-years-old. Maia LOVES cats - especially wild cats (her favourite is cheetahs), so it was no surprise when we learned that her Dream come true was to meet a cheetah "in real life" In December of 2018, Maia's dream came tru...e! She and her family went on an incredible Dream Trip to Orlando where she got to meet a few cheetahs up close! She couldn't look away! Today, Maia's mom says she's been doing great; and that they still talk about her Dream come true on a weekly basis! Maia's story is just one of the many magical dreams come true that happen at The Dream Factory each year.
