What an amazing week-end. $150.00 raised for the Thornton Tigers @ $1.00 per breakfast sandwich equals a whole lotta bacon. Special thanks to Linda Stephens and her son Dylan for helping us out. Poor people came in for lunch and ended up scooping ice cream and washing dishes. Couldn't have done it with out you. We were going to close this Mon. and Tues. for repairs but this weather is a real blessing so we'll be open and will be serving up our famous Peameal Bacon on a toasted kaiser or egg, bacon and cheese on an English muffin as well as our regular menu and all day breakfast. We'll be opening at 9am this sat and Sun. So we can team up with Thornton minor hockey to help with fund raising for the Thornton Tigers. Hi Folks, well the weather is changing and everyone's world is turned upsidedown but we'll get thru it with some adjustments. We usually run the snack bars in the Thornton and Angus arenas but hockey season is up in the air now so, we'll be keeping the Parlour open all winter. We'll be serving up hot home made soups and hot lunches as well as our regular offering of ice cream and yogurt for the strong at heart. We'll be closing Mondays & Tuesdays to do some sorely needed repa...irs ( or maybe just have a nap ) but will be open the rest of the week from 11 am til 8 pm and 10 am til 8pm on week ends. We also can cater business lunches or family functions with our take out service, delivery is also available in the area. We will also be assisting the Thornton Tigers in their fund raising efforts, more details will follow. We're coming up on our 30th year of serving Thornton, sponsoring minor sports and being involved in the community we love. Small business is the backbone of any community and we ask that you support all small business's in your town. Looks like it's going to be a wet rainy couple of days so, we are going to be on take out only mode for Mon. and Tues. to attempt some long over due repairs ( or eat and sleep all day, whichever comes first ). Hello Thornton!!!! Happy to see you again. Our well rested vacation in Wasaga Beach has come to an end. Check out time was 10 am. Hard to stay closed when people come to the door looking for ice cream or lunch so we decided to open the old parlour early. We are now open so come on in, we missed you guys

The Original Thornton Cafe & Ice Cream Parlour needs your help. This week - end we are sponsoring the Covid 19 community clean up project. We will have a bin on our property donated by Big Yellow Bins and we hope to get volunteers to clean up trash in our town which they will then haul away Monday. If you or your group is interested in participating please let us know. ( all safety and distancing rules re covid 19 must be practiced. ) All volunteers will receive a free ice cream when the job is done. This is for trash from roadsides, ditches, the trail or any public property. Hope to hear from you

135 years ago a man named Henry Ball moved to Thornton and purchased a plot of land ( Part of Lot 1, concession 7, Innisfil ) for $250.00 from Fredrick Marr of Barrie. Here he built a general store at what is now known as 236 Barrie St. Essa twsp. The Thornton Cafe and Ice Cream Parlour. Since then this building has witnessed two world wars, The Boer war, Spanish Influenza, Polio epidemic, measles and various versions of flu such as swine flu, african, sars and countless others. Thornton has survived and flourished thru them all and will thru this one too.
