As I stack a winters supply of wood, I have the time to reflect and ponder on this warm grey day. Today we remember and honour those who have served our country, who have given themselves for the life we have. In a year of constant change and compromise I hope we can all be a little more understanding of the things our soldiers gave up in order to serve. Not that I compare a pandemic to war in any sense, but never before in living memory have we experienced so much uncertainty or been forced to be apart from those we love, all for the greater good. Trenching again! Winter water is getting an upgrade. As we continue to expand, our winter housing for pigs must become more sophisticated. More updates to come as nights get colder, pigs move off pasture and closer to winter housing. This project has been brought to you by my oldest nephew who came to visit for a few weeks. The kids and I decided that it was time for a little break from the everyday and went to visit my sister for the weekend. Even when off the farm, it is impossible to deny the urge to forage and gather the seasons harvest. The grape vines at my sisters grew an abundant crop this year and so we brought home a cooler full of deliciousness. Cooked down and strained they await their final transition to grape jelly, but first they are the most delicious grape juice ever tasted. My fingers are purple and so is most of the kitchen but a few new ‘accents’ to the decor are well worth it! #threeforksfarmbobcaygeon #theharvestcontinues #grapemagic #purpleeverywhere
