CanSkate is a dynamic learn-to-skate program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development, and the fundamental skills needed to take part in any ice sport or to skate as a recreational activity. Coached by NCCP-trained professional coaches, assisted by trained program assistants.... CanSkate uses nationally-tested and proven curriculum and delivery methods that guarantee skater success in developing stronger basic skills and developing them faster. Action, movement and fun! NEW PROGRAM! Parent + Tot Pre-CanSkate (Ages 3-5) January 9th -Mar 13th , 2021 This program has been developed for skaters who require assistance and allows the skaters to receive hands-on assistance getting up and maneuvering on the ice, from someone they are comfortable with.... This program focuses on learning through FUN! High energy music, actions songs and toys, create an inviting learning environment for any young child learning to skate. Adults and skaters will participate in small group lessons led by an NCCP Certified Professional Coaches. Upon mastering the skills in this program, skaters will move into our CanSkate program, where they will skate without hands on assistance. Both the skater and the adult must be registered with Skate Canada. As such, the same adult is required to attend each class. When registering for this class, please be sure to add the CHILD class and the corresponding ADULT class to your cart. Note: Parents/adults must be 18 years of age and have basic skating skills (balance on 2 feet, move forwards and stop). CSA approved helmets are required for both parent/adult and skater. CANPOWER CanPowerSkate is a Skate Canada program that has been designed to enhance the skating skills needed for both hockey and ringette players in group format. These sessions are taught by NCCP Certified CanPower Coaches. Coaches wear hockey skates, while teaching this program. A Skate Canada NCCP CanPowerSkate coach will be on the ice at all times ... All participants wear a CSA-approved hockey helmet and use hockey/ringette sticks and gloves The CanPowerSkate program is operated and delivered in accordance with the delivery standards identified by Skate Canada The number of skaters on a session ensure all skaters have enough room to move freely around the ice, promoting a safe environment. https://www.thunderbayfigureskating.ca/
