This can be a challenging time for us all! And while things can be uncertain we can try and keep some normalcy in our lives as best as we can. One way is to try and keep you your child’s sleep routine. For the next few weeks we will provide sample schedules, tips on naps and much much more. Stay safe and healthy
Let’s shine some light onto Tummy Time. Parents have heard about it and are advised to get their baby on their tummy as much as possible. Easier said than done! But it is an important part of their development and believe it or not it helps them sleep better by increasing their sleep drive. But let’s be honest some baby’s hate tummy time. We can be a little creative and help them to learn to love it. Placing toys around them, but not too many to overwhelm them, laying down w...ith them and only having them on their tummy for a few minutes at a time until they are able to tolerate longer stretches. These are all good ways to help your baby develop a tolerance to being on their tummy for a longer period of time. Most importantly, interacting with baby’s during tummy time and as much as we can is helpful for their development and helps stimulate them. See more
With all the news around COVID-19 many people are preparing to isolate themselves to help curb this virus! But not all of us can stay home, essential service workers are out there helping those that need it. Let’s remember to be kind, helpful, caring and this too shall pass. Don’t forget to wash your hands frequently, stay hydrated and SLEEP!
Did you know that many adults experience some form of insomnia. Insomnia is classified as having problems falling asleep or problems staying asleep. Sleep problems can have a huge impact on daily functioning. Medications are normally prescribed to help alleviate symptoms of insomnia however, it’s not always effective. Let’s talk safety! It’s super important to have babies sleeping flat and stationary. Babies should be sleeping in a crib, bassinet or packnplay. According to the AAP babies need to be placed on their back in a crib with nothing else but a fitted sheet.
This is big question with many parents and the short answer is do whatever works for your baby! Some babies love swaddles and don’t mind it all and some not so much. There are also many swaddles available into us instead of swaddling using a blanket. A few good ones that we’ve tried and love are nested bean swaddle, dream to swaddle, woobie and swaddle me. There’s so many more but you just have see what your little one likes. Just remember what night work for one child may not work for another.
Anyone heard of the term sleeping like a baby? Well if you have a baby you know very well that they don’t sleep! That’s because infant sleep pattern is erratic with short sleep cycles. Stay tuned for tips and tricks on infant sleep.

Start by moving your child’s schedule: naps and bedtime by 30 minutes earlier every other day.
