Update from HPEI

We hope everyone enjoyed this season's fundraiser. There were 12 days of winners with all local prizes and congratulations to those who won. With all the prize bought locally, we were able to give back almost $4000.00 to local business in this exceptional time. We would like to thank all the folks that bought tickets. A special thanks goes out to the Tignish Coop, Tignish Credit Union and the CS16 Memorial Fund for your donation toward this years prizes.

Our minor hockey association usually takes the Christmas break off. With the circuit breaker this year, we missed almost 2 weeks. We have decided to only close for December 24th, 25th 2020 and January 1st 2021. We will be following our regular scheduled practice time. These practice times can be used for rescheduling missed games, but make sure the arena staff and officials know of games.

Good Evening, As we return to the rinks this weekend, Hockey PEI would like to remind its membership of the dangers of transporting children, fully dressed, to arenas. Please see attached the joint statement circulated to membership on December 4, 2020. Additionally, is attached a new document created to illustrate safe transportation to and from Arena’s in booster or car seats safely. Understandable yesterday’s news may cause focus to shift, but the safe transportation of ...kids to hockey remains an absolute requirement. Please circulate within your association to make sure no teams are sending directives to visiting teams requiring them to arrive fully dressed, or to be dressed in the parking lot.

Players must enter through the main entrance and exit through the marked exit between dressing rooms 3&4. Good news Evangeline rink is now allowed 3 coharts, 150 people total! Below is information for the u9 male team going out Thursday. These rules will also apply for the u7s going out Thursday as well.i know this is going to spark conversation on when other teams will start. Simple answer, when the association they are placed in start, they will as well....... INFO FOR TV U9- First ice time for U9 will be Thursday, October 15th at 530pm. Players can come in the main doors and exit the side door by the dressing rooms. Players are encouraged to come fully or partly dressed, although dressing rooms will be available. Players, parents and coaches are required to wear masks. Players and coaches will be able to take off the mask when putting on their helmet to go on the ice. Players can arrive at the rink 15 minutes before the ice time and they have 15 minutes after the ice time to exit the rink. Only one parent per player allowed in the rink at this point. We also need to have a parent who would be willing to be the team manager and a parent who would be willing to be the team liaison. This person's main responsibilities would be to do contact tracing at the door, enforce the public health guidelines that we have to follow and communicate any changes to the teams.

Reminder of line of honour for cole tomorrow morning at 10:30 we will be parked along side of road from the church on the O’Rourke road to cemetery in greenmount, after the funeral service as they leave the church we will stand respectfully by our vehicles as the funeral drives by!

Sharing of Memories for Ethan Rielly will be live streamed through the O’Leary Community Sports Center Facebook Page Monday September 28th starting at 6pm. Unfortunately there is no more spots available in the rink due to Covid 19 restrictions. Line of Honour Information, For everyone participating in the Line of Honour you are asked to park down one of the side streets within Town and walk to the Main Street section in between Fergusons Funeral Home and the O'Leary Community Sports Center starting at 5:15pm.

Important information regarding Atom AA and PeeWee AAA Warriors tryouts! Please read. Both teams are scheduled to start tryouts this weekend. Currently Evangeline rink is only allowed 50 people in the facility. They have applied for more but as of now it still stands at 50. Due to high numbers for tryouts, spectators will not be permitted inside the rink for tryouts. If numbers allowed in the facility are increased by CPHO, we will update accordingly.
