LIVE !! Toronto All Stars Steel Orchestra performs in Florence at the Loggia dei Lanzi. It is a famous open air museum. Florence is the birthplace of the Renais...sance art era and its artists love of the body and the human form are evident in the paintings and sculptures displayed in the museums. Also very apparent is how art and science are combined to express creativity through the artwork. It was moving to be able to perform for a packed audience at such a historical venue and to represent steelpan in the process. We were thrilled to be able to share the art of steelpan with the florentines and the tourists there.This particular piece is called "I'm Alive" by Celine Dion. Mode 1 (Ionian) Mode 2 (Dorian) Mode 3 (Phrygian) Mode 4 (Lydian) Mode 5 (Mixolydian) ... Mode 6 (Aeolian) Mode 7 (Locrian) Today I am going to post my 10th lesson. We are continuing to work on our fundamentals. Let’s also get familiarized again with the seven modes in the A-Major scale. LESSON 10 For beginners - A-Major Scale - Single notes If you are a beginner, I would like you to start off today by learning the first part of this video in the scale of A-Major. By the end of today you should be able to play the single notes for the scale of A-Major forward and backward. A-Major Scale - Triads For intermediate students, I would like you to continue on learning the triads. For your lesson today, you will have to play the scale of A-Major using single notes forward and back AND all the triads forward and back using these notes only (there are 7 different triads). A-Major Scale - 7ths For my advanced students, I would like you to learn the scale of A-Major, the triads and 7ths. Please know them forward and back. For all our friends who have pianos and keyboards sitting in their homes, now is the time to activate them. If you have a Steelpan at home you can do the same. Learn at your own pace.
