As the City of London moves into the red zone for COVID-19 restrictions note that at this time there will be no change to appointments. As Regulated Health Professionals, Registered Massage Therapists work under the directive of the Chief Medical officer of Health and currently no changes have been made to our ability to practice. The clinic continues with our screening process for clients and we please ask if you feel at all unwell to reschedule your appointment.

On May 28th Regulated health professionals, including RMT’s, were permitted to begin gradually providing healthcare services. Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer and The College of Massage Therapists of Ontario have provided new guidelines to be followed to ensure services are provided in a safe manner that protects both client and therapist. A warm HELLO to our clients and your families. As you know, at this time we are still unable to offer our services as the Government of Ontario has extended the closure of non-essential businesses until May 6, 2020. For those of you who have scheduled appointments in the coming weeks you can assume them cancelled until you hear from us again. We are trying to minimize communications as we are aware that inboxes are filling up with notifications from so many companies. We wish... you all the best during this difficult time and our hearts go out to all of you, especially those who know someone who is ill or have experienced a loss. It is hard for us not to be able to offer direct care to our clients at this time. We miss you greatly. Are you working from a makeshift work space at home? Have you had to change your space at the office to accommodate social distancing? Changes like these can wreak havoc on the body. If you have an adjustable desk with a well-designed chair, finding a good height at which to sit and proper placement of the computer screen should be easy. However, if working on a laptop and you have to make do with, say, a dining room chair (or couch!), it might be more challenging! Here are some tips to improve the ergonomics of your temporary spaces: -Ideally you want to have your elbows at the same height as the keyboard. If your chair cannot adjust add a cushion for height. -Avoid resting your forearms on the desk try to keep them floating. Keep your shoulders back and down and your chin parallel to the floor. -If typing for extended periods, you may want to put something soft under your wrists such as a small rolled towel. -Try to maintain erect posture through your back by gently engaging your core. You can also tilt your chair down slightly at the front so that your thighs are lower that your hips, which will help with proper spinal alignment. -Keep your head level, this can be tricky depending on your height, a book underneath the bottom of the computer (just don’t cover the fan) and adjusting the angle of the screen may help. -Take breaks. Get up often and move around. And, of course, do some simple stretches. YouTube is an amazing resource. -BREATHE Keep in mind that everyone’s needs vary, so listen to your body and figure out what it needs. Please stay safe and healthywe look forward to seeing you when we can. Sue, Linda, Heather and Judy.

Dear Clients, In consideration of the the recent announcements from the Prime Minister and the recommendations from our Governing body the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario we have made the decision to temporally close the Clinic. As health care professionals we feel strongly that it is our responsibility to protect our clients, the public, and ourselves . We will continue to closely monitor the situation and keep well informed on any new information or guidelines that... become available. Many of you have future appointments scheduled, if there are to be any changes to those we will be in touch. We are all facing many challenges during this difficult time and so we encourage you to take good care of yourselves, eat well, keep hydrated, make sure you get adequate sleep and seek out support through family and friends; with email, text, Skype and of course the phone we can all still keep connected. Wishing you all the best and know we shall be in touch with you again soon letting you know when you can resume your massage care.
