Media Release. Thursday, September 3, 2020. All Hands on Deck for Back to School 2020 (Bradford/Innisfil, ON) Back to school 2020 is fast approaching and South... Simcoe Police Service is ready! We will be deploying our "All Hands on Deck" response to keep students, parents and school staff safe as classes resume under developing circumstances. Routines may vary and things will look different but we are prepared and adapting with increased police presence in school zones throughout Innisfil and Bradford. Motorists are reminded to be extra vigilant as students will be adjusting to the new normal of wearing masks and social distancing while walking to school and at bus stops. Parents are encouraged to review and practice safety rules with their children. This year, there is an anticipated increase in the number of children being dropped off at school by personal vehicles. We will be patrolling school zones to encourage and enforce pedestrian, cycling and driver safety. Reminder that failing to stop for a school bus with flashing lights and extended stop arm is a minimum $400.00 fine and six demerit points for a first offence. We understand the challenges and concerns of our residents. Give yourself extra time. Obey signage for no stopping, no parking and speed zones. Now more than ever, it's critical we work together to ensure a smooth, safe return to school for our children.

Watch your child not your phone. Drowning is fast and silent, often occurring in less than 30 seconds. Keep close watch of children around water, stay within arms reach and focus on their safety. #DrowningPreventionWeek #drowningispreventable #NDPW2020

New trend in the CRA scam! Fraudsters are now masking their number with ours to make you think it's the police calling. Constable Clint McLellan has more on this latest twist in the CRA fraud. #CrimePreventionWeek #CPWeek2019 @OACPOfficial

Media Release. Friday, October 11, 2019. Operation Impact 2019: Your Actions Have Impact (Bradford/Innisfil, ON) Today marks the beginning of Operation Impact ...2019, a national road safety campaign. By promoting safe driving behaviour, South Simcoe Police Service hopes to help prevent collisions, save lives and reduce injuries on our roads. We are participating in the campaign with our policing partners during this Thanksgiving long weekend when more people are traveling, making collisions more frequent. The statistics are alarming. Each year in Canada motor vehicle collisions claim about 2,000 lives, seriously injure 10,000 people and injure an additional 165,000 citizens. Our focus this long weekend will be on four preventable behaviours that put drivers, passengers and other road users at risk: impaired driving due to alcohol, drugs or fatigue, as well as aggressive driving, distracted driving and lack of seat belt use. "Your Actions Have Impact" is the theme for this year’s campaign. It emphasizes the role each of us has to play to support traffic safety on the streets and highways in our community. Don’t let the impact of your choices be a collision on our roads. We wish you a safe and happy Thanksgiving weekend. Please enjoy responsibly.

KNOW THE RULES! When driving on a road WITHOUT a median: Drivers travelling in both directions must stop for a stopped school bus with its upper red lights fl...ashing. When you approach the bus from the front, stop at a safe distance to let children get on or off the bus and cross the road. Don't move forward until the red lights have stopped flashing or the bus begins to move. When driving on a road WITH a median: Traffic coming from the opposite direction is not required to stop.
