I was going to write a reflective post about how 2017 was a transformative year for me: challenging and rewarding, ugly and beautiful, painful and joyful in equal parts. But Rupi Kaur said it so much better than I could. Here’s to making friends out of strangers and strangers out of friends, to mint chocolate ice-cream, the unconditional love of a mothers arms and to staying soft, vulnerable and open in this hard life. Here’s to the possibilities of a new year, an abundance of kindness and all of the love.

Watching our children go through difficult times is hard to watch as parents. I feel the worry in parents voices when they call me about their children. I am a ...parent too and I get it in a very personal way. We want to save our children from pain and heartache. This article is an important reminder about the post traumatic growth that so often comes from difficult situations for our children. Whether it be divorce, relationship break ups, failures at school or sports teams, watching our kids fall is tough. But holding the space so they can get through it, without worrying about how much it's hurting us, is important. And believing in their ability to overcome is imperative. Always believe. Your kids will thank you for your confidence in their strength. See more
