This Bi yearly job has helped manage the invasive Manitoba maples, retaining life to prevent hillside erosion and maintain the beautiful view to nature all around . It's been a fun project to do even with the wet soggy weather we had. So I was at this job less than 2 weeks ago and inspected this tree; No hazards. But in that time frame, these bald face hornets made a home. Nasty buggers! So I left to find some hornet spray and wow! was that a challenge! I went to Home hardware, walmart, zehrs, Canadian tire, shoppers drug mart, FreshCo and even 2 convenience stores and failed to find hornet spray. I have been in the industry 11 years and have not come across as many wasps nests in all my years than I have... the past month! Judging by the serious lack of availability for wasp and hornet spray In stores, my guess is there's an increase in populations this year. Is there anyone else that has noticed this? Flip for the Before and after pics of the Sunburst Honey Locust prune. This tree had probably never been pruned and had decline in many major limbs. This tree has very old trunk defects which likely lead to the large decline on the one side of the tree. With a good prune, this tree should have many years of life remaining . Always love pruning Honey locusts even with the deadly giant thorns.
