Rest and recovery is just as important for our health as movement. When you learn to listen to the body, your body, you learn there is no room for self- judegement, force or ‘should’s’ If your body needs rest, give yourself permission and take it.

My strength was once my weakness. 16 years ago I was quite literally hit into the direction of my career path. I was a passenger in a small car with no head rest that was rear ended. I suffered soft tissue injuries to my neck and back with an undiagnosed concussion. Being so tall (I’m 5’10), I only recall the back of my head hitting the window.... http://trishagilks.ca/2020/12/22/my-journey/

How are you feeling as we move from summer into fall? I find transitions can be hard on my body and it requires more care to stay vital and healthy. One tip to help your body transition from the outward energy of Summer to the inward calling of Fall is to practice being Grounded. As Mother Nature is preparing for the restfulness of winter, so too do our bodies ask and seek stillness. So many of us as students or parents or teachers recognize the push of fall schedules. Withi...n this I encourage you to set aside time to connect with your body. This can be done through writing, breath work, walking, yoga or meditation. We can reduce our body’s stress response (and help maintain our immune system) simply by making a point to reduce rushing and running around. Taking extra care of our bodies during times of transition can help us maintain health, boost our well being and provide a positive effect on our ever hard working immune system. I also offer gentle treatments which too can help create more ease in our physical body and help you get grounded. Stay well this Fall and set aside time to practice getting grounded.
