Many People Want To Travel Again Many of us who are used to travelling are wanting to get going again. As a well seasoned Travel Agent I am not claiming to know everything about this pandemic. However i do have a few warnings for you to be on the lookout for.... Air Canada Vacations is offering Medical Insurance that covers COVID to people travelling to certain destinations and resorts. It is wonderful to be able to have access to Medical Insurance if you come down with the Corona Virus. However who wants to be sick indefinitely away from home and possibly in a strange country. Even if you don't come down with the virus there are still a few obstacles to deal with. If you travel out country or travel east of Terrace Bay, Ontario you will have to quarantine for fourteen days upon return to your home. You need to work this into your holiday plans. If you return home by air you must take a taxi or arrange to have your vehicle dropped off at the airport. Someone should have groceries dropped off at your home. This is social isolation. You need to check with a Travel Agent before you travel to see what the current boundaries are for quarantine.

Our Secret Summer Hideaway We sold our beautiful cabin and now our summers seem empty. We had to go back and remember what we did and where we went pre cabin days. I didn't have to think for a long time. Before our cabin days we returned often to a beautiful lake on the east side of Highway 71. The name was Crow Lake or the aboriginal name was Kakagi Lake. It is a crystal clear trout lake where you can see the bottom almost anywhere you go. This lake is between Sioux Narrows ...and Nestor Falls. For many years we enjoyed canoeing on this lake and enjoying the many islands and high cliffs. Stopping for picnic lunches and fresh swims was always something to look forward to. Towards the end of the day there was always an island nearby. Here we could put up our tent and prepare a delicious camper's dinner. We wanted to share this gem with my husband's children and thought a canoe trip was a bit much to start with. Our search for housekeeping cabins for our family vacation led us to Allen's Crow Lake Lodge. Here we found several equipped 1,2 & 3 bedroom housekeeping cabins. All the cabins now have screened in porches. If you have children there is a lovely sandy beach by the water. For those active folks there are a few peddle boats to exercise those legs when you are not swimming. There is a dock for your boat or there are boats and/or a canoe for rental. Not far down Highway 71 is the picturesque town of Nestor Falls with a few restaurants and gift shop. North on Highway 71 is the larger touristy town of Sioux Narrows. It crosses over Lake of the Woods on one of the oldest wooden span bridges. It has also been home to an annual arts festival every summer. You can spend a day checking out the shops and having lunch in a few of the restaurants one of which overlooks the lake. You can sit here and eat a lunch of fresh pickerel and watch the boat traffic go by. If you want a week or a few days Gary & Laura are your hosts at Allen's Crow lake Lodge. Call them at 1(431)718-9644 or email [email protected].

Itchy Feet! at The Prairie's Edge in Kildonan Park After surviving the last few months who wouldn't have itchy feet? In other words it's time to get moving again. But where are we going? It really isn't a great time to be flying anywhere non essential for a while. No cruises are leaving from Canada this summer. It's time to stay home for the time being. ... So let's start small and start with the beginning of dawn. We are so blessed to be living in Winnipeg. There are so many ways and locations in Winnipeg to start any day. My day would begin in the north end of the city at Kildonan Park. In the summer there is the beautiful range of flowers to walk by. We can't forget about an early breakfast at the Prairie's Edge Restaurant either before or after the walk . Breakfast can be a tasty cinnamon bun with a delicious cup of coffee. On a more formal note there is a dish of Eggs Benedict the Edge or a popular Prairie Breakfast. These are just some of the breakfast/brunch items. Don't forget there is also lunch & dinner followed by great homemade desserts. Hours are Wednesday-Sunday - 10:00 am-8:00 pm / Closed Monday & Tuesday/Location - Kildonan Park Telephone - (204) 284-7275 (Make your reservation now) Now why not share your favourite coffee/breakfast & walking place in Winnipeg!
