This post will discuss what is needed to improve the City's PRESENCE. The PRESENCE criteria identifies the SCALE and GROWTH OF BUSINESS OWNERSHIP in the City.... *** CRITERIA 1 *** What change (in percent) has occurred - increase or decrease - in business establishments with employees? GOAL: Increase the number of businesses with employees. The definition of ‘classical’ cultural industries includes broadcast media, film, publishing, recorded music, design, architecture, new media and the ‘traditional arts’ visual art, crafts, theatre, music theatre, concerts and performance, literature, museums and galleries all those activities which have been eligible for public funding as ‘art’. They assess Canada’s 125 largest urban centres and compare them on self-employment demographics, small business sentiment, and local tax and regulatory policy.
