You don’t even need to cut them. Just pull on them and they will tear off. Please do your part.

Today is the Annual Fire Safety Inspection. Passing this inspection is a requirement and we need all participation. Please remove any rugs from outside your doors in the hallway. All hallways are to be clear of shoes, garbage or anything someone could trip over if there was limited visibility. All units will have their interior fire and smoke alarm tested so there will be a lot of noise throughout the building during the day. Each test takes about 5 minutes. ... They will start on the 5th floor and work their way down. This test is absolutely mandatory. If we cannot access your unit, a private test will have to be set up at your expense (approximately $350). If you cannot provide access, please leave your unit key in the caretakers mailbox (Box 16 in the mailroom) and text me and I will take care of it for you. For your own personal safety, it is advisable that you have a fire exit plan taped to the exit door of your unit. That plan should show which way to the nearest exit and could how many doors before the exit door. This is important as visibility during a fire can be very limited and disorienting. Counting doors is a smart thing to do when you stay at a hotel or counting seats when you are on an airplane. It could save your life. So post a note on the door with an arrow showing which way to go and the number of doors and be fire safe.

Horgan expressed his disappointment with people having parties or refusing to wear masks. You better behave appropriately, or we’ll come down on you like a ton of bricks, stated Horgan.

Just a reminder. I cannot control power to the building so please don’t call me asking why the power went out. I won’t know the answer. What I will do is go to my emergency package and remove my fully charged batteries and lights. Then I will walk the hallways and stairwells to make sure the battery operated emergency lights are all working. Then I will check the vehicle gates and set them up to be moved manually. Then I will post security at the gates to make sure no o...ne gets in without proper identification. Then I will use my cell phone and look on the BC Hydro website where all the information about what grids are down ans their estimated time of repair and I will post that information here. We have some advantages over the buildings around us. Our electrical supply is underground so we aren’t reliant on power poles however we can still have transformers blow so we are not immune. You need to have a working flashlight (or two). *** You will find long power outrage more comfortable if you have a battery operated camping light and a deck of cards *** PLEASE do not use candles unless you are present in the room with the lit candle at all times. Unsupervised candles are the second leading cause of all house fires. Please keep us all safe. You should have a fully charged external cellphone battery that you can charge your phone with. This would be a good time to familiarize yourself with what the halls and stairs look like during a power outage and to practise your family fire escape procedure. This would be an excellent time to begin to put your emergency backpack kit together. Let’s start with flashlights, camping lites and a cell phone back up battery. Be safe.
