Newmarket international Festival of One act plays Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the fourth annual Newmarket international festival of one act plays at the Old Town Hall in Newmarket Ontario Canada scheduled for September 10,11,12 2020 has been rescheduled until May 13, 14, 15 2021 when the festival will present six brilliant plays by playwrights from Canada, United States, Australia and Newmarket. Several plays are world premieres, performed on stage for the very first tim...e before the festival audience. New for 2021 is a Matinee Theatre for a Young Audiences’ pantomime production, by Newmarket’s-own Playwright Rod Urquhart featuring emerging young actors, directed and organized by the talented director Joanna Kaufman. . Hollywood actors Carl and Ida brilliantly played by Robert McNeely and Laurie Laing and directed by Patricia O’Hare, the hilarious comedy ‘The Next Ivan Sharansky,’ written by famed Los Angeles Playwright Jim Geoghan was a big hit in the 2019 festival. McNeely and Laing will reprise their roles in the further adventures of Carl and Ida in two new plays penned by Geoghan for the 2021 festival. Newmarket charity gets boost from Google! The Very Useful Theatre Company (VUTC), producers of the prestigious Newmarket International Festival of One Act Plays, announced the approval of their organization’s Ad Grants from Google International. Once the Google Ad Grants approval process is complete, which should happen in a few days, Google generously provides eligible Non-Profits free advertising on the World Wide Web.... The effort to gain the grant was led by web designer Darryl Erentzen of www.Erentzen.com on behalf of the VUTC Board of Directors.
