Don’t ever underestimate the power of a library book! This was the catalyst for transforming the life and career of Peggy Brown and launched her trajectory ...to painter, textile artist and Who’s Who in America. Read how she was inspired by a set of watercolours and the book her husband brought home, and how that led to American Art Quilt fame. http://www.textileartist.org/peggy-brown-transparent-waterc

These wonderful 3D macramés are the creations of the talented Canadian Janis Ledwell-Hunt. Janis Ledwell-Hunt was born in Halifax, the capital of Nova Scotia, C...anada and lives and works in Nanaimo. She is a professor of English women’s studies at VIU (Vancouver Island University) and at the same time a macramé artist and creator since 2018 of Unfettered Co, a store designing and selling macramé items in Etsy . Her store has about 41 thousand followers on Instagram, and so far has made around 29 thousand sales. Since she was a small child, she loved making various objects. However, instead of studying anything related to the arts, she studied English Philology , B.A Hons at Mount Saint Vincent University), M.A. at the University of Guelph and received her PhD from the University of Alberta. Although she started making macrame relatively recently (2018) - she could not resist to its magic and she feels incredibly lucky to be able to pursue these creative dreams. Janis is madly passionate about her new occupation, not a day goes by without knots and threads. She began learning macrame a little over 2 year ago when wanting to bring creativity back into her life. It quickly grew from a hobby, to a full-time obsession, to a thriving creative business. Janis Ledwell-Hunt''s one-of-a-kind nature-themed macramé creations - wall hangings that take the shape of a turtle, whale, fish, cat, owl, tree, feathers, waves and other popular nature-inspired designs, eave a lasting impression on macramé enthusiasts looking for new ideas in this popular fiber arts craft. She is well known in the macramé community for her designs that look like things you can find in nature, rather than the abstract forms most macramé designs take. Her pieces have the characteristic popular boho style of macramé rope and knot work, but have a captivating three-dimensional look that sets them apart from other artists'' work. https://www.facebook.com/janis.ledwellhunt?epa=SEARCH_BOX https://www.instagram.com/unfetteredco/?hl=en www.etsy.com/ca/shop/UnfetteredCo

Finished this piece just a while ago. Instead of a wall-piece, decided this time to make it a standing work. (38cm diameter) More work in the 'moss'series can be viewed on my website annmechelinck.wixsite.com/artist #slowstitching #moss #frenchknots

This is my art installation currently at the Museum of Quilts and Textiles in San Jose, California, USA. Fifteen hundred river stones are covered in found lace work.
