The Village of South River has issued a Conserve Water Notice. South River Public Works crews have located one leak and repaired it. Unfortunately another leak or leaks need to be found and repaired. The low reservoir levels are expected to continue. Currently we are operating the water distribution system at a reduced pressure to minimize the loss of water as a result of the leaks. The Conserve Water Notice is in effect until further notice. We would like to thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Water Update Village of South River We would like address the concerns of those Village of South River residents who may be experiencing issues with the taste and odour of their water over the last few weeks. The raw water characteristics of the South River the source for our drinking water are constantly changing, and are contributing factors when it comes to odour, taste and colour changes in the treated water. Please note that, although unpleasant, these issues are ae...sthetic only. The water is regularly tested and meets all provincial drinking water regulations. We would like to take this opportunity to assure residents that we are currently working with our water operator, the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA), to refurbish filters in an effort to improve the drinking water aesthetics. OCWA has now ordered the replacement materials and will begin installation as soon as they are received. Once installed, residents should notice an improvement in the odour and taste issues they have been experiencing. We thank you for your patience while we deal with this matter. If you have any concerns, please contact the Village Office at 705-386-2573

Flushing of the watermains is now complete for this fall. Now that flushing is complete, it is recommended to clean the screens on your taps and if necessary let a cold water tap run outside until any coloured water has cleared. You might also want to flush your hot water tank properly. Thank you for your cooperation.

Water Main Flushing Monday September 21, 2020 Flushing of water mains for regular maintenance will begin Monday September 21st at 3:00 p.m. Water pressure and colour may fluctuate while this work is being completed. ... If you see public works staff working on the hydrants in your area, do not run your water. It will take approximately 5 to 10 weekdays to flush the whole system. Flushing is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. each weekday and continue through to 11:00 p.m. at night to minimize the inconvenience to customers. Flushing may extend after 11:00 p.m. due to circumstances beyond the control of the village. Please plan your household tasks accordingly. For your convenience, it is suggested to store some water in clean containers in advance, especially for dinner preparation, in the event there is an interruption of water pressure or colour. It may also be advisable to shower in the mornings before flushing begins. Once the flushing is complete, it is recommended to clean the screens on your taps and if necessary let a cold water tap run outside until any coloured water has cleared. You might also want to flush your hot water tank properly. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience while this necessary maintenance is completed.
