Here's what you need to know: When: The Canadian Dental Association recommends that your child's first dental exam should take place within 6 months of their first tooth erupting, or by their first birthday. Why: Teach your child from an early age that going to the dentist is a good experience, and important for their overall health. Your dentist can find and sometimes even correct potential problems before they become larger issues. This visit is a great opportunity to learn... if your homecare routine is effective, and if not, our dental professionals are here to show you how to take the best care of those little teeth at home. Where: Village Lane Dental and our team of trained and experienced professionals will take every step possible to ensure that your child's first visit is a pleasant one, setting them up for a lifetime of oral health! Give us a call to book your little one in, we'd love to meet them!
Hope your day is filled with happiness, Jada! Happiest Birthday!

It's about that time again and a fresh season of sport is about to start up. It's a great time to learn about sports guards, and the big question - are they necessary? Mouth guards are an important piece of equipment when it comes to many sports. A properly fitted, custom-made sports guard will help to protect your teeth, lips, tongue, face and jaw from injury caused by impact. It's true that you can purchase sports mouth guards in many different varieties and styles from most sporting goods stores, but a custom guard that is fit specifically for your mouth by your dentist will help to make sure that it stays in place firmly and comfortably while leaving you able to talk and breath easily while wearing it. GAME ON!

The overwhelming fear of the dentist is a very real feeling, a fear so strong that it can hold people back from getting the treatment they need. Click on the link below for tips on understanding and overcoming anxiety around the dentist. We provide sedation dentistry to Okotoks, High River, Black Diamond, Turner Valley, and all surrounding areas. Sedation medications can help patients to relax during dental appointments, allowing them to undergo care they may have been otherwise unable to receive. Our dental practice is able to provide different levels of sedation to help our patients have comfortable dental appointments. https://www.villagelanedental.com//dental-anxiety-and-fear/

What are sealants? Sealants are a thin, plastic protective coating that is applied to the chewing surface of the back teeth, creating a barrier to protect from cavities. The majority of dental caries in children are found on the chewing/biting surfaces of the back teeth, where there are nooks and crannies for acid, food, and plaque to get into. ... Sealants drastically reduce the risk of decay in children and are an easy, effective, non-invasive, and affordable solution when it comes to the protection of your childs teeth. Talk to your dentist today if you have questions about sealants!
