The snug enters the red zone ! ....wait ...what ? Didn’t we just enter the orange Zone ? Mother of Jesus if this continues I’ll end up in the twilight Zone ........anyway ...herein the red zone we find ourselves this morning ...so what does this new scenario mean for you and I . Well we are now only allowed ten people at a time inside the snug ..so here’s our plan . We are only seating in the front room of the pub , this makes life a little easier on our servers , serving tables , making drinks and answering phones ...we are allowing 90 minutes per table which is an hour and a half , we can have a maximum of four customers per table ...we are asking people to reserve where ever possible and as in the early days we will be offering allotting time slots . So for example if you are in for 12.30 the table is yours till 2 p.m. ...we will be still open for take out and on the nicer days our heated patio will be available . By current law we have to do last call at 9 pm so as of this Wednesday the snug will be opening at 8.30 am with full menu available and offering 5 breakfast choices ... full Irish breakfast , breakfast wrap , Rickey McKeown jumbo breakfast roll , toasted western and a broccoli n feta omelette ! ...the snug employs almost 20 locals and we are determined to keep it that way . ...our snug gift shop is open also selling all our snug merch , toques , hoodies , ball caps , tee shirts , aprons and masks , perfect gifts for Christmas ! ...lots more exciting stuff coming up in the next few weeks so stay tuned , and listen folks , this pandemic will not last for ever , every thing has a time , I know it’s hard , covid exhaustion is getting to us , but we will beat this and have a hug fest when it’s all over ...so chin up and onwards ! ....thanks John See more

The snug and the orange zone ! ...so as of midnight last night restaurants and pubs in this region have entered the orange zone ...so what does this mean for us... and for you ? Well to be honest folks it really doesn’t change much for us at all .... we are still. Open for business inside , front room and back room , our heated lane way patio is still open , all our covid 19 safety procedures are still in place , masks continue to be mandatory inside , unless seated , we continue to get tracing details from everyone , all are staff are temperature checked on arrival for shift , they are all wearing masks , we continue to bleach and sanitize all tables , chairs and surfaces between sittings ...and your food is prepared in a dine safe kitchen with masked cooks n prep staff ...the only real difference at the moment is that we can only seat groups of four max to a table and last call is now nine p.m. instead of 10 p.m. ...so I’m not a scientist or a doctor or indeed a covid expert , I’m a restaurateur and a host and that’s what I will continue to do ...we will follow the expert guidelines and change and adapt as needs must ...that said our special on this Monday morning is a homemade broccoli and feta quiche with either soup , or salad , or fries ...I will continue to post specials and keep you up to speed on what we are up to next , and believe me we have some exciting stuff coming up ! drop in and see us , use your own common sense together and together we will work our way through this ....and try not to stress too much ...thanks John See more
