well were into 3rd week of July !! fishing has been great lately and for the past couple months. there have been lots of chinook, coho, pinks and halibut. going to post pictures from JUNE AND JULY.

Holy Mackerel another season is upon us !! 2019 has started off with some great local chinook fishing throughout march,april and may. there was a herring spawn in march just at the mouth of ucluelet harbor, some of the local old timers said they haven't seen that in years. a friend of mine took some pictures of the herring spawn with her drone. ... i will include a few photos in this write up. the halibut fishing has been getting more consistent especially as we get in...to june, had some great halibut fishing last weekend with a group after the weather simmered down we made it a few miles offshore and found some nice fatty flatties. in terms of regulations, The announcement made by DFO confirmed that Ukee and the inshore area will be open to fishing all season with a limit of 2/4 on Chinook. at this point we are only able to retain chinook salmon from 1 mile off the beach to inshore waters. After July 14 the Big Bank will again open for Chinook as well. Halibut remains the same, and we are able to fish for halibut anywhere offshore. Fishing in the Ucluelet area will continue as usual with only early season changes as to where you are able to retain Chinook. for the past several years, early season has been great along the beach for chinook, so this is great news. will include a few photos of my early season trips in april and may 2019. feel free to call me or email me anytime if you are looking for some fishing dates, have inquiries or looking for accommodations for summer 2019. 250-726-8221 ph or [email protected] email many thanks matt Oly olcen ps. barkley passed away last september....since then i have added a new member to the family who is presently in training with his older brother Salish. . bowline or little man/chief is a natural in the water and in the boats. so look forward to having him as my mate in the future.
