Dragon Wisdom By Christine Arana Fader Art By Anja Kostka This 43 card oracle deck is designed to bring the reader into a deeper connection with dragons/dragon energy. The 3.5 X 4 semi-gloss cards feature dragons of all kinds as well as some other things like chalices and elves. The artwork spans the whole card with a banner at the bottom displaying the card name. There are not the dragon names, but rather the concepts they represent. The 109 page companion book gives a brief description of the deck and how to use it before providing the card descriptions. The descriptions include a black and white of the card, the card name, the message the card has, and a meditation/visualization to better connect with the dragon/energies discussed. At the end there is a guided visualization to hep you find your personal dragon, and an about the author/artist. There are no spreads provided. This deck is supposed to be used as a one card draw. The accompanying meditations/visualizations are meant to be carried out for 7 consecutive days (most of them) and often contain an element of ritual (candles, cleansing bath, crystals, etc..). This deck could also be used in magical workings, personal meditations, or on your altar. The artwork is beautiful, the dragons have character, and the concept is delightful. If you love dragons/feel a connection with dragon energy this may be right for you.

Llewellyn’s Little Book of Halloween By Mickie Mueller This little 222 page book touches on everything Halloween. From history to present, she provides tricks, treats, spells, and spirit communication ideas to bring this holiday alive for you (whether you are a practising witch, Halloween enthusiast, or just want to add a little flair to spook your neighbours). A cute yet informative book with a conversational tone. The author speaks from her own personal experience as a life long lover of All Hallows Eve and a practicing witch. Complete with exercises, recipes, and craft ideas, there is a little something for everyone. On a side note, I love how chapter 1 starts on page 13.

BONUS REVIEW! With the approach of Samhain I thought I would post this special review for a deck that was just released last month. Deck Dish With Chrissy... *All decks reviewed here can be be purchased through White Lioness Metaphysics* The Nightmare Before Christmas Tarot Deck By Minerva Siegel Art By Abigail Larson As a fan of Jack and Sally I was super excited when this deck came out in September of this year. I will try to keep to just the facts, but I can tell you I not disappointed. This traditional tarot contains 78 2.75 X 4.75 semi-gloss cards. The only change is the suit names (Swords to Needles, Cups to Potions, Wands to Candles, and Pentacles to Presents). The artwork depicts all the characters we know and love from the Halloween classic The Nightmare Before Christmas with a black border that features the card name/number. I do feel that the author/artist put a lot into choosing the right character/image for each card, and the artist captured the essence of each character beautifully. She really brought them to life. The 126 page companion book (in a lovely shade of purple) has a small introduction to tarot before diving right into the card meanings. The Major Arcana meanings start with a sentence or two about the card and the character/scene before giving an upright and reversed meaning. The Minor Arcana just gives both meanings. For all the cards, the meanings are simple and to the point, and would be easy to learn by any new reader. Every card description provides a picture of the card. At the end there is a short how to and three themed spreads are provided. Blown to Smithereens 1. Shot Down (What needs to end/be left behind): 3 Of Candles 2. Oogie’s Loose Thread (Reason for ending): Wheel of Fortune 3. Jack’s Alive (What you gain for letting go): 10 Of Needles 4. Lesson Learned (Insight into what you will learn): Queen Of Presents 5. Meant To Be (Future what’s waiting on the other side of transition): 3 Of Potions I really love the purple and black colour scheme, the fabulous art work, and even the feel of the cards (soft, smooth, and easy to handle/shuffle). Of course, I adore the theme, and I think and Jack fan would love this deck too. Perfect for your Halloween reading, though I would use it all year long (another favourite for me for sure). The feel and function of this deck leaves no room for disappointment. Excellent for any reader level.
