EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 2, 2020: ORANGE LEVEL RESPONSE RESTRICTIONS AT ALL SCHOOLS IN MANITOBA. What changes are happening as a result of moving to orange - restric...ted level under Manitoba’s pandemic response system, across all schools in our province? K-8 students may be offered temporary remote learning for the duration of the Restricted level (orange) to create additional space, where required. Blended learning (in-class and online) for grades 9 to 12 where distancing cannot be achieved will continue as per status quo. Schools must ensure two meters of physical distancing to the greatest extent possible, and adjust classroom space as necessary; excess furniture must be removed from classrooms to create additional space; other spaces within schools must be repurposed to accommodate more distancing (e.g., multipurpose rooms, empty rooms, shared spaces, common areas, and libraries). Extracurricular activities are only permitted if all learning and distancing requirements have been met. If these activities continue, established guidelines must be followed. Teachers and staff who move across cohorts of students, including substitute teachers, are required to wear medical masks. Medical-grade disposable masks have been issued to all schools. N95 masks are not required. Indoor choir and the use of wind instruments are not permitted. All field trips must be postponed or cancelled. Furthermore, in the Winnipeg Metropolitan Area: All school-based sport activities are now suspended. Physical education classes will continue, with all students required to wear masks during these classes. All other public health measures are still in effect provincewide. ALL COMMUNITIES ARE AFFECTED RED CRITICAL Effective November 2, the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region including the City of Winnipeg and the following rural municipalities, will be moving to the Red-Critical level under Manitoba’s Pandemic Response System, however schools in this region shall remain at Orange-Restricted level: City of Selkirk, Town of Stonewall Town of Teulon RM of Rockwood RM of Springfield RM of St. Andrews RM of St. Clements (including Birds Hill Provincial Park) RM of West St. Paul RM of East St. Paul Village of Dunnottar RM of Cartier RM of Headingley, RM of Macdonald RM of Ritchot RM of St. François Xavier RM of Taché Town of Niverville. It is important to understand that Manitoba Public Health and Manitoba Education have mandated that all schools within the RED- Critical region will remain at ORANGE- Restricted response level, unless Manitoba Public Health designates individual schools as RED-Critical (if current or future covid outbreaks are observed at those schools). Effective November 2, all other Health Regions outside of the Winnipeg Metropolitan Region will move to or remain at ORANGE- RESTRICTED. This includes all schools within these health regions (which include all remaining communities in Manitoba). Please consult the map located here for information on other health regions in Manitoba: https://www.gov.mb.ca/health/rha/map.html All affected school divisions are aware of which schools are impacted and plans have already been set in place to address the establishment of orange level restrictions for all schools across all communities of Manitoba. #Covid19MB #healthystudentshealthycommunities
