This is Payge Fortier in her framing shop...she is a wonderful artist. The photo that I took of page showed an unattractive background of various framing materials but because the painting was so dark, the background seemed to work. Are you familiar with her great landscapes and horse portraits? SEE MORE: www.greatportraitartist.com

This lady, Brenda Letcher from Castlegar sent me a snail mail Christmas card saying how much her portrait meant to her. I had 3 faces to work from in separate photos so I had to group them together. She says" To say I WAS SHOCKED WHEN I OPENED THE PARCEL WAS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. ..so beautifully done. I was crying. I feel like you have captured our souls. I feel very close to my kids everytime I look at it. So this amazing portrait has made me feel less lonely for my childre...n. Thank you so much for what you do. Yours sincerely, Brenda Letcher" Boy, this kind of response makes me feel so lucky that I have learned to do portraits capably. I could paint a thousand mooses and no one would be this appreciative. Please check my new website: greatportraitartist.com and maybe check your photos...there might be some good memories there that we could turn into fine art. The Bellhouse family really liked the pastel of Jennifer.

"I was going to phone you and thank you for the beautiful painting of Braun and Recount but decided to write you instead. My husband arrived home with the painting and made me leave the family room while he unwrapped it and hung it over the fireplace.I cried with happiness when I saw it. I have sat for hours in pure amazement just staring at it. I cannot express in words my feelings or thoughts. How in the world did you get all that wonderful detail from my two tiny photos?... The details on the horses: magnificent. Your artistic impressions with bear mountain in the background: excellent. It all brings back so many happy memories. You are a perfectionist in all your artwork, a natural . I shall always cherish my painting. All I had before were two small worn out photos of them. I will always have a special place in my heart for this until the day I die. My deepest thanks to you. I know that you do great people portraits as well but keep doing horses for people like myself. The coffee pot is always on when you are in Calgary." Isabella Mullan, Calgary Alberta, Canada This is why I have chosen to do commissioned portraits of people (and horses) AS WELL AS PETS. When a beloved one has passed on, often you only have some old photos as a remembrance. It is so much more meaningful to turn those photos into fine art that will really intensify that bond. I think that it is nice to be able to paint a wolf or a stunning landscape but a commissioned portrait that brings joy is more important to me. I am lucky to be able to do this for people. new website: www.greatportraitartist.com
