August was a big month for kids in the Childrens Jiu - Jitsu program! Congratulations to the following on their promotions! Genesis - 1st degree white... Katelynn - 1st degree white Andrei - 1st degree white Joanna - 4th degree white Ruben - gray belt Kian - 3rd degree gray Ynigo - 3rd degree yellow Well deserved and well earned!

Kenyan runner Abel Mutai was just a few feet from the finish line, but became confused with the signage and stopped, thinking he had completed the race. A Spani...sh runner, Ivan Fernandez, was right behind him and, realizing what was happening, started shouting at the Kenyan to continue running. Mutai didnt know Spanish and didnt understand. Realizing what was taking place, Fernandez pushed Mutai to victory. A journalist asked Ivan, "Why did you do that?" Ivan replied, "My dream is that someday we can have a kind of community life where we push and help each other to win." The journalist insisted "But why did you let the Kenyan win?" Ivan replied, "I didnt let him win, he was going to win. The race was his." The journalist insisted, and again asked, "But you could have won!" Ivan looked at him and replied, "But what would be the merit of my victory? What would be the honor in that medal? What would my Mother think of that?" Values are passed on from generation to generation. What values are we teaching our children? Let us not teach our kids the wrong ways and means to WIN. Instead, let us pass on the beauty and humanity of a helping hand. Because honesty and ethics are WINNING!

Online classes are on this evening, starting with Jiu-Jitsu at 6pm followed by an awesome Strength and Conditioning class at 7:45. This Strength and Conditioning class will work on developing strength and mobility as one, to help with freedom of movement, explosiveness and strength in tight BJJ situations, and will help prevent injuries. Attention all Wulfrun / Gracie PEI students!! Tonight we begin our Global Online Training schedule! We sent everyone an email last night, with login details. This Tuesday and Thursday from 7- 8pm we will be hosting our online Fundamental Jiu-Jitsu class. This is a partner class so beg, plead, coerce or build one and get to class. Children call out your parents, parents call out your children. Last class was great and this one will be better. Look for your email with the login details.

This week on Tuesday and Thursday, we will be hosting an online class at 7pm. Tuesdays class will be a Fundamental Gi (or baggy sweater) class which will require a partner. Children are more than welcome to attend. This is a great way to introduce somebody in your bubble to Jiu-Jitsu. You might have to encourage them by making dinner for the next week, but it will be worth it! Thursdays class will be a one-hour question and answer session with Master Royler Gracie! Childre...n are more than welcome to attend as well. In previous sessions, children have come with some excellent questions.This is a fantastic opportunity for all students to get to know Master Royler on a more personal level. He is a great source of inspiration and his personal anecdotes are a unique glimpse into the Gracie lifestyle. Please come prepared with a questions for Master Gracie. Even if you dont ask it, you at least thought of it. We hope everyone is safe and well, and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday! Thank you to everyone who did the online class today. It was fantastic to see so many faces. I hope everyone got something from the training. Check out the setup!! Going live with Zoom at 11 am Thursday morning. This will be a solo Jiu-Jitsu class that will focus on skill building drills that anyone can do at home. All you need is a carpeted room and maybe a yoga (Jiu-Jitsu) mat for comfort. We will be sending out an email to all students with password, meeting ID # and login information by 6 pm tonight. If you dont receive the email, check your spam. If it is still not there please email us so that we can update your address and send you the info. I am looking forward to seeing all of you tomorrow. We are posting an update to let you know how we have decided to move forward in regards Covid-19. Our main concern is the health and welfare of our students and their families, and our commitment to limiting any possible spread of the Covid-19 virus. The Academy will be CLOSED for the week of March 16-22. We have sent all students an email with more details. If you have not received an email, please message us at [email protected].

The weather is blowing in! We have decided to continue with the Junior and Senior Childrens class at 5:15. The Academy will CLOSE after the childrens class. We do not want anyone getting stuck anywhere. No adult classes tonight. Enjoy your evening! See you tomorrow!

Its been almost a week since Kyle and Dene fought in Truro. I would like to congratulate them both on their hard work, drive and dedication throughout each of their camp and fight. Dene won a unanimous decision. She out controlled, out struck and dominated her opponent. Well done! I am honoured to have promoted her to blue belt on on Tuesday, February 11th. Kyle unfortunately lost in the last 25 seconds of the first round to a questionable submission after dropping h...is opponent to the ground with an overhand right. Lots of power there! I would like to thank the team that shows up week after week because they love training, not just fighting. The people who show up when they are not in camp so that others can get the training that they need. Of course thank you to the academy for supporting our competitors and to the fans who travel to see the shows live. Lastly, I thank my wife and family for their patience, help and support. See more

Tonight is fight night in Truro! Unfortunately, the main event with Shawn Wallace was cancelled. Due to the weather, his opponent was unable to make it to Nova Scotia, after having travelled already quite a distance from the west. There will surely be something on the horizon for Shawn but it is a shame when fighters put a lot of time into their training. Two other members of the Wulfrun Team are fighting tonight. Dene Gallant-Ramsay (weighing in at 125.2 lbs) and Kyle Allain (weighing in at 124 lbs) both made weight last night and are in good form. Professor Paul Abel will be ringside to encourage and coach them through their fights. They have been training hard so they should be great bouts! We would like to wish them great success in the cage tonight.
