Ready for thousand more arrows? - today's workparty refaced the butts at 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 yds. - we also found an inscription from our club member Rick Nabzdyk, who designed and built the butts 11 years ago in 2009 - thanks to all the volunteers that have kept restoring the butts each year!

Stage 1 openings for Ontario --> The Ontario Gov't has issued a list of activities that can restart effective Tuesday, May 19, 2020. On this 5 page list is a category called "Individual Recreational Sports." --> Rod and Gun Clubs are mentioned in this category, but not Archery Clubs. The fact is they both are INDIVIDUAL recreational sports that can be conducted outdoors. --> I have been advised that Archery Ontario is seeking clarification from the Ontario Gov't if Archery C...lubs can reopen on May 19th, 2020 as well --> In the meantime, the YCB Board of Directors will hold a videoconference board meeting on the evening of Sat. May 16th to collect information and plan the next steps. --> Please standby for more updates See more

Trails in the York Region Forest reopened April 18, when will YCB reopen? York County Bowmen will remain closed until the Ontario Gov't Emergency Order dated March 30.2020 is modified or rescinded. This Emergency Order required the closure of all Outdoor Recreational Amenities. What's the difference between the re-opening of the York Region Forest and the reopening of the 3D course at York County Bowmen?... York County Bowmen has bow stands, archery butts and 3D animals. ( Outdoor Recreational Amenities) Each of these objects of club property could be a hotspot for the spread of COVID19. The virus can survive for days, especially on hard surfaces.. Consider the process to shoot an arrow. The arrow is fired into a 3D animal or target. Then hands go onto the target/ 3d animal plus the arrow to withdraw it from the target. Ultimately, hands are used to anchor the arrow on the face to shoot the next arrow. Even if people practice social distancing, there is no guarantee that archery butts or 3D animals wouldn't become hotspots for the spread of COVID19 coronovirus. All it takes is one person, asymptomatic or not, to spread the virus to many members shooting arrows at York County Bowmen! Yes, York County Bowmen has trails and so does the York Region Forest. The difference is our club; York County Bowmen has archery butts and 3d animals. These archery butts and 3d animals create a lot of potential hotspots for the spread of the virus compared to walking on trails in the York Region Forest.
