Your Place Poultry Processing 25.11.2020

You can now get your chickens processed on your farm without having to leave home. Your Place Poultry Processing will come to your farm and get your birds in your freezer for your family. We offer an on-farm uninspected poultry slaughter in our mobile processing trailer. We are Alberta's only mobile poultry processor. What you need to do is provide us with water and bring us your chickens and then we will get them freezer ready. All birds are stunned with and electric knife... for a humane and minimal stress dispatch. Our amazing scalded and plucker remove all the feather. All our equipment is stainless steel. Birds are then packaged in heat shrink CFIA approved poultry bags. Cost for processing is $6/chicken and $15/turkey plus mileage of $1/km. We have a minimum charge of $300 plus mileage To book your slaughter date please call 403-358-9694.

We have been working hard over the past two weeks to get everything ready for next week. We have a trip back to the electrician, the plumbing to complete, and a few little finishing touches. Can't wait to fire everything up and start processing birds!

This week we put a few of our broilers in our own freezer. Here is a short video of our amazing plucker. We also butchered a few ducks at 8 weeks old.... ducks need to be butchered at 7 weeks, 12 1/2 weeks, or 18 weeks for The feathers to come out nicely. Outside of those windows there are a lot of pin feathers as the new feathers are growing in.

It's been a very interesting day. With Pigeon Lake Poultry Processing announcing their closure our phones have been busy. We will be ready to start on farm butchering by May 1 so you can put your birds in your freezer for your own family's consumption. We have also been looking into multiple ways to offer an inspected slaughter so that those who raise birds to sell consumer direct can continue doing so. We are optimistic that we can find a solution to the problem of a lack of inspected poultry processing in Alberta. We will keep everyone posted on how we make out on being able to offer inspected processing.
